No more free MCPS tutoring

If they cut this, they had better cut true crap like Leader in Me.

My kid was on the verge of depression and the tutor we received from Tutor Me Education saved his life. Shame on MCPS if they cut this.

So any news on this? Has anything been announced to schools/families? Tutoring goes to May 31st or June 16th? Definitely no tutoring in the summer?

We've gotten zero information about it from the school or anything. Really weird.

Still haven't heard anything further from our TutorMe tutor.

There are so many things that could be cut and missed. Why cut something that is benefiting students who use it.

Completely Agree, Tutor Me Education was the one thing that actually worked for my kids. I am a single parent and really need this support. My kids were grade levels behind in reading.

There's a petition at our school with a group of mommies who will take it to the district if they decide to stop tutoring with Tutor Me. Our school has been lacking programs and is way understaffed, especially for my child on an IEP. Our tutor through Tutor Me Education was the only saving grace we had this last year.

Continue to the end of the year.

Did they specify what type of tutoring? The tutoring at the school is no good. We prefer TutorMe tutors way more.

What will happen then?

Hiring is happening right now, but MCPS won’t guarantee it until a position fills. Tutors must commit to all the listed dates. This means that only people with a lot of flexibility (both in time and their finances) will sign up.

June 1 is less than 10 days away and we still don't know the fate of tutoring via Tutor Me Education. If anyone knows anything, please share. I started to look into Wyzant and Varsity Tutors, but until I know MCPS's final decision, it's hard to make a move.

My understand is they are terminating it but they have yet to send out a email to all parents and some tutors. We'll reach out to our tutors, some we will stop and some we'll keep depending on cost. We cannot afford to keep tutoring at the level we are doing.

Is this for something different than the online Tutor Me Education tutoring?

I’ve heard they are switching to in person in school tutoring but not sure how it will work. And it’s only for mcps selected students so any child who can benefit will not get it if their grades are ok.

Good Afternoon Tutors!

We are reaching out to inform you that MCPS tutoring with Tutor Me Education will now be continuing through the last day of school, June 16th, 2023. At this time, we do not have definitive answers about tutoring for the summer or the 2023-2024 school year. We will provide further updates from the district about this as soon as they are available.

Additionally, MCPS has requested that sessions from this point forward focus on core academic subjects (ex. Math, English, Science). If you are currently involved in sessions that include extracurricular topics (ex. Music), please note that these will not be supported after June 16th.
