No more free MCPS tutoring

Does someone have the exact text of the email? We didn't get one, but our tutor thinks it might resume in the fall (I don't think so).

It only went to the tutors. Parents have not been told yet. We only heard about it here thanks to the tutor. Our tutors haven't said anything. I contacted the company and they confirmed that MCPS terminated the contract. No information about if it will continue in the fall.

Frustrating. It's hard to move forward with alternative summer plans because we haven't officially told by MCPS.

I asked our Tutor from TutorMe and she said they hadn't been told it was being paused and that her understanding is that it would be moving forward even into the summer...

I emailed tutor me and they confirmed MCPS was ending with them.

It's one sentence from the email. I'd like to see the rest to see if there's more context. I doubt they'd blast out a one-sentence email to parents telling them tutoring is ending.

e are reaching out to share an update with you. Montgomery County Public Schools has just informed us that they will not extend their tutoring program into the summer. At this time, all MCPS tutoring will conclude on May 31st, 2023.


While this is subject to change, we wanted to be as transparent and upfront as possible so that valued tutors have ample time to plan accordingly. We understand that many tutors heavily rely on this program for income and/or have begun to make summer tutoring plans.

MCPS will let us know what tutoring will look like beyond the 2022-2023 school year. We will share any updates with you as soon as they become available.

So this went out to the tutors themselves, but apparently not all tutors, since my DD's tutor was clueless and had not received this message from TutorMe. Not sure what to make of it. Clearly, this whole thing has been sloppily handled by both TutorMe and MCPS.

We are sad to hear about it. Our tutor has been a lifesaver. The company has also been g*d sent. They have been very communicative and my child has jumped grade levels. It looks like the district is still in potential talks to continue which is why we have been kept in the dark. Our tutor is a special education credentialed teacher who I am surprised to say is much more qualified and experienced than our current teacher. Fingers crossed they let it continue.

Agree - if anybody has any updates, please share it here. For us, it is very challenging to plan things after June 1.

Parents of 4 kids here at MCPS and we are happy to report we also are impressed by Tutor Me Education. The level of support and quality of tutors is higher than the company we use to use and pay 82/hr for. All our kids are doing much better from when they started and love their tutors. We are not keen on the Chat base tutoring for FEV. How does that even benefit younger kids? The face-to-face is like the tutor is sitting there with my child and the material has been useful. Not sure if anyone agrees?
