Something is fishy. The roommates are somehow involved. Why did the 911 caller (/assuming one of the roommates) say the person was unconscious and did not mention murder or blood or stabbing… |
Lease stop posting this, the police have cleared them. The caller was not one of the roommates was a friend who entered the house to meet up with them. |
If you are drunk, live in a neighborhood where people party a lot, and have loud music or a movie on. |
Stop. My roommate was home on the same floor when a man came into our apartment and tried to rape me. I screamed. Multiple times. She did not hear me. She had not been drinking but wasn't feeling well and was on the other side of the apartment, and is a heavy sleeper. The man didn't realize she was in the apartment. Very similar situation and she was on the same floor as me and still, I had to go wake her up after the incident. It is not these roommates fault. They will live with this horror and the trauma of finding them forever. Come on. |
This was in college as well by the way. As another poster said the amount of noise you are used to when you live in a house with roommates as a college student is very different than your current house likely. As someone who has lived something a bit like this, trust me it's not as black and white as you think. Everyone thinks they know exactly how they will respond or what they would wake to or all of these assumptions. Let the police figure out the roommate situation, it sounds like they already did. It does not surprise me that on a completely other floor in a college house with tons of roommates, that they might sleep through. They easily might have been wearing ear plugs due to said roommate situation. |
Similar happened at UMich a couple of years ago at an off-campus apartment. A man walked in an unlocked apartment and tried to rape several girls in their respective rooms. A magistrate let him bond out without a tether and he immediately fled the country: https://www.michigandaily.com/news/crime/ann-arbor-man-arrested-after-sexual-assault-south-u/ |
For those saying they'd for sure wake up, no, that's not how it works when you're super drunk after a night of binge drinking. Read that link: "As the first two roommates were asleep, Lige said they did not immediately register what was happening. After, as the man tried to assault the third woman, she woke up and confronted the man — causing him to flee." |
Yeah honestly I think people would be surprised at what they can sleep through as a college student. Now with my parent senses on after having multiple newborns, I wake pretty easily. But 20 year olds often do not. I woke up and the man was already in my room, had clearly not just arrived. I actually had not gone out that night and neither had my roommate, we were both sober. We think a lot of things because it helps us feel safe. It feels a lot more safe to have all of these assumptions about how we would react differently - I would wake easily, my roommate would wake if I yelled, I would scream so loud the neighbors would hear me. It makes us feel it can't happen to us. And the truth is - it most likely won't. These violent, random incidences are rare. What happened to me was incredibly rare. But the truth is if you're a person that's actually been in this situation, you know that it's not so black and white. You may not yell as loud as you think because you were just woken out of a deep sleep, you are confused, and your brain is frantically weighing options at lightning speed (If I fight will he overpower me quicker, maybe trying to escape is better, the list goes on) |
Right, remember the case in Queens where the mom was stabbed and everyone thought it was her son at first because he was at home asleep? So sad.
|
Yeah, it was the loser she was having an affair with. |
Um, he’s a killer? |
No way the roommates were involved. |
This story is crazy..
Apparently the crime scene was mind blowing bad. And the suspect appears to have gotten away even though roommates were home. |
Completely depends on the school. I applied to 11 and made sure all of them offered housing all 4 years |
