Both are strong regionally and with solid national name recognition. On pure name recognition and prestige, Tulane is probably stronger within its region than Tufts and equal nationally.

No. Tufts is a very serious academic institution. Tulane is not Having similar acceptance rates or rankings in US news doesn’t change the fact

No affiliation with Tufts, but it draws the most serious and nerdy student

No doubt Tufts is objectively more selective but I don't think it is perceived as "better" in most of the country. Tulane has strong name recognition. There are not any Grisham books involving Tufts, are there?

Your last sentence- lol!!

Tulane is where prep school kids go who can't get into anything better.

Facts.

No offense but Wake Forest is a good safety school. Tulane is not. Tulane is a much better school and much more competitive.

Wait, Baylor?

Ranked #16 in undergraduate teaching, which is kind of important.

+1. Tulane is a top school that fact is inarguable and it’s considered most selective. Obviously Tulane is very difficult to get into. I find it hard to believe that all of these vocal parents’ children are getting into Tulane only as safeties, or even more absurd is the idea that all of these peoples’ children’s are getting into higher ranked schools like ivy leagues with ease.

Actually that would be somewhere more like High Point, Fairfield, wake fores, or College of Charleston.

Wake doesn't belong on this list God damn

Yeah, and WTF is a "green wave" as a mascot. Tulane...some of the people on this board are seriously brain wave impaired.

If they were to form a Magnolia League (a Southern Ivy League equivalent with 8 schools), Tulane would almost definitely be invited.

I'm from New Orleans. It refers to all the Tulane students' vomit on St. Patrick's day after they've had too much green beer in the Irish Channel.

Makes sense, I can now say I was "today's years old" when I learned that tidbit of information. I now respect Tulane an upchuck or two more.

OMG,you must be joking. Baylor but maybe Vanderbilt? Baylor is not exactly an elite school. Baylor University admissions is more selective with an acceptance rate of 57%. Half the applicants admitted to Baylor University have an SAT score between 1160 and 1350 or an ACT score of 25 and 32.

Vanderbilt University admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 7%. Half the applicants admitted to Vanderbilt have an SAT score between 1480 and 1570 or an ACT score of 34 and 35.

My kid is at Michigan, so no real dog in the fight. Other than I hate stupid people.

What is 2022 rank please? I will tell you 44th in US News--and probably lot lower elsewhere. Duke, Vanderbilt, and Rice in the top 15. My kids visited and got merit but it is a great school if you are in say Houston, want a little distance from parents, can full pay, like party scene, don't want to go to UT Austin with half of your high school, etc.

I would be cautious in relying purely on USNWR rankings. People tend to fixate on them and it’s almost absurd. The ranking is outdated and less and less relevant every year.

Since we are in DC urban moms, here are some thing that is relevant:

Who cares about net price for under 75000 income on DCUM.
not relevant at a
ll

Umm, most of us!

GMAFB. How many people on DCUM actually have a a HHI of under $75k/yr?

Then hate yourself because you actually to the time to look and post stats in a useless thread...what a dork. Love the "Michigan" add in the last sentance...no one cares other than to laugh at you for taking the time to post gibberish .
