Apparently it is:

The accolades in Tulane’s history are just as impressive as any other Ivy League school; 12 Louisiana Governors, 18 Rhodes Scholars, 155 Fulbright scholars, four living billionaires, and even a Supreme Court Justice have counted themselves as alumni of this amazing school….”

Tulane is consistently among the highest-ranked schools in the country by major publications; US News ranked it #40 in their 2020 list of best schools.

What is 2022 rank please? I will tell you 44th in US News--and probably lot lower elsewhere. Duke, Vanderbilt, and Rice in the top 15. My kids visited and got merit but it is a great school if you are in say Houston, want a little distance from parents, can full pay, like party scene, don't want to go to UT Austin with half of your high school, etc.

Given your description of it as some sort of suitcase school, why did your kiids visit? Just out of curiosity?

#40 is not "Ivy" level. "We graduated lots of good ole boys who turned the hose on protestors" is not the selling point you think it is. I picked a southern definitely non-Ivy school at random and found that UGA has had 25 Rhodes Scholars.

Basically Tulane is a pretty good school, with a party reputation maybe due to the exceptional location. Saying it's not an Ivy equivalent is not trashing it.

I’m saying yes, OP, because you used quotes. it’s not technically in the Ivy League. But if you’re looking for Ivy League equivalent (prestige) in southern schools in the south Tulane is definitely a contender.

I’m sorry. I just snorted coffee out of my nose? Tjpjlame = = Harvard.

DP; agree that is not "trashing it" but PP is clearly unfamiliar with the student body at Tulane.

Nothing wrong with Tulane if that's where you'd like to go...but it is not an Ivy equivalent. But so aren't most schools in the US.

Glad you decided to ED Tulane OP. They really like ED applicants. Hopefully you applied because You love the school and not because you believe it will every be an IvH equivalent.

It isn’t.

I dont understand the question. Change the name of the school...Is Harvard the Ivy League? No. It's a member. There's more prestigious schools in the South if that's what you are asking...Duke, UNC, WF, FU, Emory, GT, Vanderbilt, TX, Rice

I would be cautious in relying purely on USNWR rankings. People tend to fixate on them and it’s almost absurd. The ranking is outdated and less and less relevant every year.

Since we are in DC urban moms, here are some thing that is relevant:

Oh please, this is the worst ranking of them all. How can you take seriously a ranking that considers National Louis, Utah Stare, and BYU top 25 universities?
