Is Tulane the Ivy League of the South?

The Ivy league is a mediocre sports league and Tulane is not a part of it.

+1. Tulane is a top school that fact is inarguable and it’s considered most selective. Obviously Tulane is very difficult to get into. I find it hard to believe that all of these vocal parents’ children are getting into Tulane only as safeties, or even more absurd is the idea that all of these peoples’ children’s are getting into higher ranked schools like ivy leagues with ease.

Tulane is where prep school kid go when they can't get in anywhere better

Actually that would be somewhere more like High Point, Fairfield, wake fores, or College of Charleston.

It’s Wake Forest much more competitive than the other 3 you listed?

Yup and higher ranked than Tulane as well.

I would say Wake Forest is significantly harder to get into than the other 3. But an easier admit than Tulane.

It’s not hard to get in Tulane if you are willing to go ed1 or ed2. At our private, Wake gets the better students.

Thought for a moment that DH was on DCUM!
So no, OP.

I've heard "Harvard, the Duke of the North"

Tulane has a great regional reputation in the south. It isn't ranked on the same level but I think of it as being similar to how Tufts is in the NE. Both are strong regionally and with solid national name recognition. On pure name recognition and prestige, Tulane is probably stronger within its region than Tufts and equal nationally.

No. Tufts is a very serious academic institution. Tulane is not Having similar acceptance rates or rankings in US news doesn’t change the fact

No affiliation with Tufts, but it draws the most serious and nerdy student

Tulane is the BU of the South. It's an excellent school, in a great location, and it's much stronger (and more popular) than it used to be. But, like BU, nor is it Harvard or Yale.

No doubt Tufts is objectively more selective but I don't think it is perceived as "better" in most of the country. Tulane has strong name recognition. There are not any Grisham books involving Tufts, are there?

Wake Forest is way more prestigious, highly ranked, and difficult to get into than Tulane.

Tulane is where prep school kids go who can't get into anything better.

Facts.
