Let's lose together

Early mornings with a kiddo sure can be rough though. Mine are older now and I'm impressed that you are losing weight with a little guy around -- kudos to you. RESPECT.

Ha, he’s 4…. I feel ridiculous for still not having lost the baby weight (and added 5-10 during the pandemic)! I have lost maybe 5 and have at least 15-20 to go. I doubt I’ll be back to my college weight ever again.

Four is a tough age!!! I just have tween/teens so very few night wakeups etc. I'm 10 years in and finally losing the baby weight so give yourself a break!

My weight fluctuates SO much based on my cycle it’s always hard to be sure after a week. I’m jealous of you guys who are steadily losing a point more a week- I need to up my game but I’m going to be happy as long as things are going in the right direction!

*ugh a pound or more a week!

Oh man this was me yesterday and today was not so good. I was SO tired from bad sleep and a kid getting me up very early. Ate a bunch of sugar instead of anything healthy when I was starving this morning. So frustrated with myself but determined to go right back to doing better tomorrow. At least I exercised today! Fingers crossed for a much better night of sleep…

Just get back on that horse, you can do it! This stuff happens and you just have to get through it and get back on track like you've been doing before. Hang in there and good luck!

Thank you! I did do better and the scale didn’t go up at least. I had another late night with work and early morning with a kid but I’m determined not to fall back on sugar today. Any suggestions for ways to keep energy up when tired that aren’t caffeine or sugar would be appreciated!!!

Do periodic short bursts of jogging in place before you get tired.
Put a bit of gingerroot in herbal tea for a more stimulating drink without caffeine or sugar.

Thanks to all who encouraged me! I did pretty well ona stressful day where I was TIRED. I ordered a delivery salad with salmon for a “treat” for lunch, which saved time and really filled me up. I managed to make it through the day without any sweets, partly because work was so crazy I didn’t have time to find any! I did not exercise so I really need to make that happen. So better get myself to bed asap!

I think an accountability partner is a good idea, but am looking for someone other than an anonymous forum. Any ideas where to find one? I'd like someone who isn't a friend or family. I did well with WW at work where the leader was the same every week - not so well with drop-in WW where the check in person changed every week.

Great question. I’m very interested in this too. Definitely don’t want to do weigh ins so have never joined a group but would love some accountability on my actual habits

I gained 4 pounds over the weekend because of anniversary cake and eating out. Some of that weight is probably just salt/water retention. Back to the grind but I think it was worth it!

I know I’m a week late with this suggestion, but when I’m super tired from kids up at night I chew lots of sugar free gum. Cinnamon, spearmint etc seem to perk me up. Also hydrating with a zero sugar drink - Gatorade zero or whatever you prefer - can really wake you up!

You guys. I’m the tired poster- thank you all so much for the tips and encouragement. I had totally forgotten how helpful it is to get up and do 20 jumping jacks. I’m going to really try to keep that up in lieu of the sugar I crave when I’m tired.

I don’t ever talk about weight loss or diet in real life (as much as I’d like an accountability partner!) so I just wanted to write here I’m so proud and excited because even though it’s been an absolutely exhausting and stressful week, I lost another pound. I have not seen these numbers on the scale in at least two years. I’m only down maybe 5 lbs total but it’s so exciting to see the numbers go the right way. I really hope I can keep it up.

You’ve got this! I know people say the scale isn’t the end all be all, but it really keeps me going too to reach new numbers.

5 pounds is awesome OP!! Congratulate yourself. Now you know what works, and you know you can stick to it even when life throws a lot your way. Keep chipping away slow and steady.

I checked out the scale today while at the gym and saw numbers I haven’t seen since college! I’ve lost 30 pounds over the past 6 months and am going to shift into maintenance soon. The most challenging habit I’ve had to change is stress eating, or eating something quick (and unhealthy) on those busy days that are over-scheduled with work and kids activities.

I’m the PP you are responding to, thank you so much! I hate that the answer appears to be no sweets, because one seems to open the door to a LOT more when I’m tired/stressed. I’m trying to only have dessert with my kids, because it’s usually only a couple times a week and a very specific controlled setting im unlikely to emotionally overeat. I feel like I will have to do more than just not eat sweets and up my vegetables to keep losing though. I guess it’s an important thing to get under control.

Mid 40s 5’6” woman checking in. I had a much better week and lost 3 lbs this week. I’m guessing I was still retaining some salt/water weight last week after the pizza and beer when I checked in last Thursday. 38 lbs and change gone now and I’m so close to that 40lb mark I can almost taste it. I have to travel for work early next week so that will be a challenge with airport food and business dinners. I’ll likely be aiming just to try to maintain next week as a result, but we shall see.

I had to buy new pants this week as none of the multitude of sizes I have in my closet fit anymore! Haven’t worn this size since roughly 2006!

I’m a bit stuck 7 lbs away from starting weight. I gained 15 lbs this year—very stressful and no time to workout. I’m down 8 but can’t seem to budge the last 7…I’m trying fasting and cut out booze.
