As if Newt going to Taiwan almost 30 years ago is even relevant to this day in age when China is now MUCH MORE aggressive and hostile.

Those were back in the days when morons in the west opened up trade and our universities to China under the stupidly naive belief that more interaction with the Chinese would enable our 'democracy' and western ideology to rub off on the Chinese that they'd then bring back home.

When Newt went, China didn't invade and militarize the entire south china sea with a whole bunch of fake islands that China built. Much different scenario now. Pelosi going there even though she is neither the president nor the secretary of state is incendiary for no reason.

I was going to post this question in a separate thread.

Are we going to war with China when they invade Taiwan the way Russia is invading Ukraine? If so, are we prepared to fight China with drones because we don't have an army of fit young willing people to fight? I have heard that the numbers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan will pale in comparison to the numbers of Americans killed in a war with China.
