This is why I'm supporting Finley - better than Frumin on housing and transportation and toe-to-toe with him on education. He's also closer to my age than Cheh's age and I think it's time for a changing of the guard. |
I had no idea who DFER was before this thread. I looked at their website, though, and I agree with a lot of their objectives. I'm not familiar with the flyer against George, but I did vote for her. She hasn't been great for my neighborhood in terms of crime, so I won't be voting for her again, if she runs.
Goulet has other issues, right, aside from telling someone that a poll placed him at 1%? Like he said something racist at some meeting, or something? Anyway he's not my ward. |
Yeah, he answered a question about making Ward 3 more diverse by jumping into the problem with housing vouchers. And he doesn't see the racism in that logic. If you're interested in what's going on behind the scenes, you may want to learn more about who the players are, like DFER. I'm sure their website is all sunshine and rainbows. But look at what they support and why, and it very quickly comes down to $$. |
Yeah, but the people offering "evidence" in this thread about DFER seem politically motivated and not truthful, so I'll pass. |
You'll pass on learning more because someone didn't provide a source you trust? Willful ignorance is not an excuse. You can find it plenty more by paying attention as issues come up or by searching in more reputable sources. |
You sound like an anti-vaxxer, with vague statements about bad things, suggestions to do my own research, and suggesting we "follow the money." I looked through some of the "sources" provided and they are all politically biased. They just aren't good sources that suggest you can trust the content. It's not willful ignorance if I've examined your sources and found them untrustworthy. I mean, maybe this is how you make up your mind about things, but I don't. |
You've got some real head-in-the-sand going on there. |
I mean, this is also par for the course as an argument tactic of anti-vaxxers. Personal insult. |
Enough already, dude. I'm not the person you are responding to, here or earlier. But you do look ridiculous to me, too. |
Except Finley doesn't have a chance of winning. Frumin does and at this point, he is the best shot to prevent Goulet from winning. |
Nor do many of his supporters. It really reaffirms the Ward 3 stereotype, which is another reason he really needs to be defeated. |
Frumin's support is as strong as you think. I have friends who live near Frumin and have his sign in their yard but aren't voting for him. Anecdote, obviously. Only DFER and Goulet have any data at this point. If Bergmann/Cohen endorsed Finley, it'd be a different race. Finley has a chance, but it'll depend on his ground game and whether urbanists vote. |
What PP did is the opposite of head-in-the-sand. |
NP here. I used to be a member of a public service union, and was a union leader, but I think the WTU is out of control and needs effective opposition to moderate their policies.
I'm fine with DFER. I looked at their policies, and they're not bad. Accountability for teachers is good, even if the union doesn't like it. I don't care about supporting the union. I care about supporting kids. Basically, am I supposed to be against DFER simply because of where they get some of their money from? The WSJ is funded by Murdoch but the newspaper is insane. And remember when everyone HATED Bill Gates? But many people love the Gates foundation now. |
