I’m not OP, but DFER’s campaign mailers against Janeese Lewis George in 2020 almost exclusively talked about how she wanted to defund MPD. We were receiving them daily. Seemed bizarre for an education-focused organization to harp on her beliefs about police reforms. |
How is a group not staying in their lane "right wing"? |
Another digestible article (it gets complicated because there are parent organizations and sister organizations that you need to understand instead of just reading the names)

Why don't you define for us what qualifies as "right wing" |
Well you'd have to ask the OP, who used it to describe DFER. That's what I'm asking. |
Sorry this seems like a conspiracy theory. This isn't a good source. |
Agreed. I posted it not as an authoritative source, but as a source of the cross-references for when you read other articles in reputable papers talking about ERNA, they're really talking about DFER since ERNA is just an umbrella funding arm of DFER. |
What on there isn't true or is unfounded? "Follow the money" can show you quite a bit that isn't an unfounded conspiracy theory. |
So ballotpedia just says "hedge fund managers". I mean, this could be like Gates or Soros (e.g., not bad). This still seems like innuendo and smearing, but I guess that's the DC way. I wonder who would want to smear DFER through innuendo. |
Who funded that website? Oh wait. |
Yeah, that's not hidden. Of course AFT doesn't like DFER. So? How about the allegation that DFER is funded by some pretty right-wing people and orgs. |
Getting back to the poll, it's pretty funny that the poll was basically single digits for most candidates, and everyone undecided. I could've told them that!
Whether they were also testing messages who knows. I don't think anyone needs to be told that schools matter in Ward 3. (Also funny is that candidates talk to TK, who recorded his call!) |
Yeah the whole poll info sharing seems like a nothing-burger. |
I think portraying a candidate who supports criminal justice reforms as wanting to defund MPD as pretty right-wing. Especially considering this was before the murder of George Floyd and the widespread adoption of “Defund the Police”. |
Right, it is an allegation. I tried clicking on some of that website's links, and they show that Koch bros supported certain initiatives and people in California, but so far no connection to DFER. The website says things and offers no support for its statements. Innuendo and smear on the part of teachers' unions isn't a good look. |
