How many people would this bother? I am pretty sure it would not bother me if I killed people breaking into my house or car jacking me. Is that a minority view?

Was going to say this myself.

I recall an incident in Loudoun where a homeowner shot an intruder. Turned out to be a neighborhood teenager who mistook the house for his own. That wouldn’t traumatize you?

Sure. I know all suburban homes look alike, but that doesn't make sense.

He was drunk and crawled into the window of the house I believe

So, the normal way you enter a house.

Death isn’t the right punishment for accidentally entering a home. We’re too trigger happy in the US.

Death isn’t the right punishment for driving your vehicle either. F around and eventually you will find out, too bad carjackers are trying this in VA. Keep your anger in DC where they appreciate the chaos.

Then a weird shaped/boxy police car that looked like to me a fire chief’s car but black comes racing from Braddock, stops in the middle of the street, police start coming from all directions. Lots of yelling, lots of guns. Then someone finalizes realizes there are kids all over the place walking around, walking towards them, gawking and tells them to get back, run to someone (anyone’s) house, lock the door and stay inside.

Eventually kids were lead through the baseball field and allowed to leave by exiting on Braddock across from the 711/Lena’s.

My kid said they thought the two being arrested were students because they looked so young. I have read NOTHING about this anywhere.

I haven't seen any videos but I saw them in person. They looked young but not that young, not middle school young.

The other Del Ray poster seems to want reporting on the details of the arrest. Not sure why. Am glad the police arrested them as quickly as they did and that no students were hurt.

I imagine people who live here want information on what happened and who did it. I know I do. Complete radio silence only festers more anxiety and needs distrust in the system. This was a violent crime, that escalated into one person being killed, another shot, and two others running onto a school campus and interacting with students. I know one student who got accidentally pushed down by one of the suspects as he attempting to evade being apprehended in front of GW. That’s how close they were to students (which I assume you may have saw).

You really can’t understand “why”? I live here. I have kids. I know two people who had their car hacked in the last year ONE ROUTE 1 (one violently, both at the gas stations further south by the Beltway, the Liberty gas station). I care what is happening to this community. The public has a right to know.

Exactly. Bye. Probably one less drug addicted jerk to father kids he won’t care for. A net plus to society that he’s gone.

Today marks day three since SWAT made a violent take down on an ACPS campus following a shooting that left one dead and one clinging to life and not a single word from our city.

Pathetic.

By guess it’s because the two people arrested are juveniles. Remember how the city and mayor handled the disclosure of the 15 yr old accused of rape at Minnie Howard and this just seems the same method. Keep completely silent, probably until a FOIA request is filed.

Half the country believes in victim blaming and that if you’re attacked or assaulted you shouldn’t resist.

In the worst cities they’re even indoctrinating people to leave their cars unlocked, so when you’re inevitably robbed, there’s no need to break the window.

Or if you’re robbed, at home and held hostage, “just give them what they want”.

Surely that theory is debunked after the atrocities brought upon the Savopoulos family

If an armed person tries to rob you of your property, it's very naive to assume you won't be harmed or even killed. Very stupid to think "all they want is the car".

When someone crosses the line and approaches you with real threats of violence it's understandable to reply with similar force.

It's sad that anyone died, especially juveniles. But...

IF someone points a gun at you and threatens you, the chances you will be killed has increased too greatly for you to go limp. Even if it's an 80% chance you will live, the threat is too great for me. I understand you want to posture and pretend you would do the moral and non-violent thing, but some of us respect and value our lives more than you obviously value yours.

Just so I understand, you're saying that if someone breaks into my house with a gun in their hand looking for valuables, I have an 80% chance of living.

But if I fight them, my chance of living increases?

Carjacking IS a petty crime.

Murdering a petty criminal is NOT a petty crime.

I hope the families of the victims sue the killer for every penny she’s got.

wtf? carjacking is NOT a petty crime. It is very dangerous (leaving aside that cars are expensive).
