I don't know why they send this when nothing will change, no masks, no testing.

It allows individual families decide if they want to take more/less precautions. I would guess we ditch this reporting in the Fall.

What precaution can I take? I can't just keep them at home? I encourage hand washing and sanitizing, but they're unmasked at lunch as they should be.

what is there to do? Why tell us the numbers with no action?

You can mask, upgrade your mask, test your family regularly. You can't be in a zero covid zone, it's just not where we are from a public health perspective. None of us wants COVID no matter how cavalier some of these anti-mask parents sound. We are trying to keep people out of hospitals - the best way to do that is to get vaccinated and mask up. You need to let go what Larla's family is doing. We are not going to close down schools or require masks again.

But covid has evolved into a cold now.

We need to follow the UKs lead. Not China's.

For some it’s a cold. For others it’s still deadly. Which one will you be? Too bad we can’t foresee the future.

That's true for any virus. Even a cold can be deadly to a 100 year old. That's life.

The current variant is mild for most but hospital rates are rising locally. But COVID has not “evolved” into a cold. New variants could be much more severe again. And new variants are coming much more quickly than predicted and not helped by the uncontrolled spread that we have.

The uncontrolled spread creates better immunity.

Viruses evolve milder so they can continue. Eventually they make people sick but stop killing the hosts. We are there.

To treat covid like it is still 2020, or like communist China, is unscientific and damaging to society.

Covid has become a mild cold.

Acting like it is anything else, with long quarantines and keeping not sick kids and teachers out of school simply over a positive covid test is just wrong.

If your temp is 102, I wouldn’t consider that a mild cold. Not a severe illness, but not a mild cold either.

If they have a positive test, they should stay home to avoid infecting others. As previously mentioned, it affects everyone differently.

+1. Long before covid, when my mother had cancer and was in her 60s, she got what she thought was a cold. It progressed to pneumonia and she was hospitalized and almost died multiple times. She had a weakened immune system and any sickness was dangerous.

She fully recovered and is not overly scared of covid now. She views it as that, harmful to some but so was that cold she had years ago. She’s certainly living her life, more than most of us, right now, out and about. She always tells me to enjoy the moment because you don’t know what will happen.

My kids' ES held a superspreader event last night. I guarantee we'll see an uptick in cases in the next two weeks. Hopefully this surge will be over before school ends so we can go on vacation in peace!

My HS senior just tested positive and now has to miss his prom. Tux rental down the drain! I guess I’m glad he got it now and not right before graduation, when his elderly grandparents will be in town.

My grandmother had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever 40 years ago While she lived a long life, her health was never the same after that. I certainly hope none in my family who had CVOID develop long-term health issues.

Bingo night?

I’m actually relieved it’s gone through our household in the last two weeks. Now we don’t have to worry about anyone getting it right before we go on vacation or before kid goes to camp. Bring on summer.

Lol. We must go to the same school. Astounded they held this event indoors with this surge!!! I didn’t let my kid go.

To be fair, it was planned to be outside. They only moved it inside because of the weather.

They are indoors all day for school. What difference is Bingo?

I mean, I went to a conference with 300 people from all over the country and no one wore a mask, and we didn't get Covid. Not ever gathering is a superspreader event.
