It’s a 15 minute job PER Covid case. They also send an email with calculated return date to parents Look up all the classes/teachers of the students and send them an email with return info/stream info Put the case in the system for FCPS to track Update the students attendance |
You people are so against masks. Rates were not this high in schools when masks were required. |
Nope. Not against. Just “for” the choice to make for myself. |
To be fair, there was no school for 3 weeks during the omicron peak. And if you look at the dashboard, cases have just barely surpassed the prior peak before the holiday break began. |
*responding to the prior PP. |
luckily, its a moot point, although during omicron schools were closed for Christmas and the suspiciously long week of snow days. |
|
My school never says how many. We got an outbreak e-mail today but it didn’t give the number of students.
Why the hell doesn’t a school go back to wearing masks when there is a known outbreak? It’s nuts. |
Because chap Peterson and other state legislators made it impossible for schools to mandate masks! |
Ummm yeah, they aren’t allowed to force masks, it’s not the school’s fault. However, I teach elementary and my class has an outbreak. Most of my students are back to wearing masks and we sent everyone home with a rapid test today. |
The COVID case manager at our school was helpful for us. Our DD tested positive recently and with all of the changing guidance (and we got inaccurate info from VA DOH), it was useful to receive a call from the case manager telling us exactly what we needed to do in terms of isolation, testing, tracing, etc. according to whatever the current guidances were at the time |
I e seen our case manager sit outside the cares room for hours waiting for parent pick-up. |
But covid has evolved into a cold now. We need to follow the UKs lead. Not China's. |
For some it’s a cold. For others it’s still deadly. Which one will you be? Too bad we can’t foresee the future. |
The current variant is mild for most but hospital rates are rising locally. But COVID has not “evolved” into a cold. New variants could be much more severe again. And new variants are coming much more quickly than predicted and not helped by the uncontrolled spread that we have. |
The uncontrolled spread creates better immunity. Viruses evolve milder so they can continue. Eventually they make people sick but stop killing the hosts. We are there. To treat covid like it is still 2020, or like communist China, is unscientific and damaging to society. Covid has become a mild cold. Acting like it is anything else, with long quarantines and keeping not sick kids and teachers out of school simply over a positive covid test is just wrong. |
