Because some people are asymptomatic and unknowingly spreading it. Do your part for the community and get tested.

Nope, we've done our part. We socially distanced, masked, sent the kid to virtual school in 2020-21, got vax'd asap. Is he is asymptomatic, or has mild cold symptoms, he is going to school. Fever or vomiting, I'll keep him home, but otherwise we are done.

Yeah, screw u teacher’s mother who lives with her and the teacher’s aid with a kidney transplant. We’re done thinking about you. Geezus, you people are sick. Be responsible adults.

As a teacher with a parent in cancer treatment, I don’t care if they test or not. I assume I am exposed every single day. It’s important that I am not around my parent if I am sick. Being around sick kids is part of being a teacher and no, I’m not teaching in a mask. I have been a lot sicker and so have my own kids for regular colds this spring than we were with covid. My parents also had covid and their symptoms were mild.

Well lucky for your mother, she doesn’t live with you. For a teacher, your reading and critical thinking skills are disappointing.

My cancer patient mother (who lived with us) got pneumonia from a common cold pre-Covid. And there was no vaccine for that cold! It’s unfortunate that there is yet another virus in circulation, but sickness is a part of life and the vaccines work very well. They largely even work for people who are immunocompromised (I.e., cancer patients). You can’t expect people to alter their lives indefinitely for what is effectively a cold for most people now.

Are you also a climate change denier? Like it or not, reality has changed and our behaviour must also change if we are to be responsible with ourselves, our families, and our communities. Sickness is indeed a part of life. But this COVID virus still circulating is (a) preventable with vaccines and masks when in public and (b) often more severe than "common cold," especially for immonocomproised. For the sake of everyone you love - and your stgdents who may be influenced by you! - please do the reading and stop acting as if we can go back to some sort of pre-pandemic reality.

Where the hell do you get that?

And no, masks won’t stop the spread of Covid. Sounds like you are the one in denial lady.

The COVID variant now is different then the one in 2020. The cloth masks that people were using then helped with the original variant and Delta but not omicron. Most people are not buying K95 masks because they are not comfortable, are not reusable, and are more expensive. To top it off, finding a K95 masks that fits kids well is harder. The K95 masks are the only ones that work over a period of time, like the school day. There are a good number of studies showing that the cloth masks are not effective. So no, the masks most Americans are using are not effective against the Omicron variant. Unless you are advocating for the Government to buy and supply the more expensive non-reusable masks for people you are not going to find too many people willing to buy those masks.

That is the stupidest reply. Oh it’s too hard to wear a mask therefore let’s do away with them! You sound like the type that polices everyone else but refuse to do anything you deem not important.

NP, but if the benefit is small and the cost large, not wearing a mask seems sensible to me. You personally may view the benefit of masking as large or the cost as small, but this is certainly not the modal perspective.

We wear K95's in buildings but DS does not because he finds them uncomfortable. We put a filter in his cloth mask instead. Not great but doable.

But I don't care what other families are choosing to do. We are all vaccinated and boosted. We make choices that we are comfortable with and are fine with other people doing the same.

And we don't insult others who make different choices, because it is rude and it doesn't do a damn thing to change their minds.

Feel free to carry on being a sanctimonious jerk though, I am sure it is changing minds.

Have you actually looked at countries with mask mandates and their levels of Covid? Data shows masks did little to actually stop the spread.
