Definitive Top 25 list

Berkeley should be on this list, and Duke is way too high.

I’ll choose two rankings I like, combine them in a hogwash way (even though they use different data and methodologies), and pronounce my results definitive! You game? Then, I’ll invite a bunch of people to quibble over my crappy list. Let’s go!

This!

Well, UVA is tied with CMU on USNWR for no 25, so I'm gathering your kid didn't get into UVA?

and UC Berkeley is much better than all these:16. Vanderbilt 17. Washington U 18. Rice 19. Emory 20. USC 20. tie CMU 22.Notre Dame 22. tie U Michigan 22. tie UCLA 25. Georgetown 25. NYU

When it's cheating

https://poetsandquantsforundergrads.com/2019/07/26/uc-berkeley-booted-from-2019-us-news-ranking/

Practically all the top 20 schools cheat and at least Berkeley doesn't try to make their admission rate lower by manipulating or just admit highest SAT scorer and the highest GPAs like other top public schools.

Then don't get caught doing it.

admission rate is not a ranking criteria anymore at least for the flagship ranking USN&WR

admiting hight SAT and GPA makes perfect sense, and schools should do that.

Even if GPAs are grossly inflated?

What is being ranked exactly? Like, which major? Or are our kids all going to study everything at all of these schools (which most of them won't get into anyway)?

Only college polls that are worth a crap are the sports ones.

Berkeley comes in at 26. It was close. I can extend to top 30 or 40 if you guys wish.

Berkeley should replace Michigan. That's by far the most overrated school on any of these lists.

Berkeley should be top 25 for sure. Michigan is also underrated. USC is overrated. It’s not even top 25 at USNWR anymore.

Why add to a useless list?

Switch Emory and Notre Dame

No. Notre Dame is not a better school than Emory. It's only top 25 on one ranking while Emory is on both. So no Notre Dame doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry USN&WR is the flagship ranking.
Others are supplementary.

So you admit it matters as you call it supplementary. Either way Notre Dame is overrated, it just has a ton of money.

lol yes money buys quality professors and staff, facilities, provides more generous aid to attaract better quiality students, better services, etc.
So the school gets better and better

Notre Dame > Emory

That's why Emorys global USnews ranking is 73 and Notre Dames 211. Right? Notre Dame must be better.

UNC's is 39. How do you figure that in? It's also on the Forbes list, where a number of these are not.

What's your point? UNC is a good school.

It's top 20 on WSJ. Again Berkeley is not even top 35 on WSJ. WSJ sees all the flaws Berkeley has including financial.

So all this effort in posting was about rationalizing a UVA rejection?

I just don't understand the UVA obsession.

This is a good list and it dropped my school down. But I like combining them. Assuming you filtered out the LACs on the WSJ list.
