There's always discussion on the forum about what are the top schools and I'm here to help. I combined both the USNews and WSJ rankings to create a more accurate and complete ranking. These two are the most reputable in circulation thus why others weren't used.
1.Harvard 2.MIT 3.Stanford 4.Yale 4. tie Princeton 6. Duke 7. Cal Tech 8. Columbia 8. tie Johns Hopkins 8. tie Northwestern 11. U Chicago 11. tie UPenn 11. tie Brown 14. Dartmouth 15. Cornell 16. Vanderbilt 17. Washington U 18. Rice 19. Emory 20. USC 20. tie CMU 22.Notre Dame 22. tie U Michigan 22. tie UCLA 25. Georgetown 25. NYU |
Well, UVA is tied with CMU on USNWR for no 25, so I'm gathering your kid didn't get into UVA? |
| HYPSM in the top 5 as they should be. |
| Whoever keeps posting these lists stop I’m begging |
Haha +1 |
No, UVA is 25 on USNews but 55 on WSJ for a combined rank of 40. I guess it's another notable omission. |
| Also, somebody on these forums keeps slipping NYU into these "top" listings. NYU is not in the top 25 on either US News or WSJ, so OP is full of it. |
No, what else would we do here? |
| Get out |
Get over it! That's how the numbers pan out. NYU is 26 one WSJ and 29 one USNews. Enough to be 25 when combined because there's no other schools beating that score. |
But USNWR is all that matters. All the other rankings don't. That's why all the colleges are trying to get top stats kids to report to USNWR. USNWR runs colleges in the US because they are so beholden to it. Wrong, but still true. |
| Hahaha I went to both NYU and UVA and in no way shape or form is NYU better. |
USNews isn't all that matters. Every single one of these schools posts the results of WSJ indicating that they care about this ranking as well. They don't post Forbes or Nice so I didn't use it. |
See what I mean? |
| Colleges and Universities report their stats every year to USNWR; they don't to WSJ,. There are thousands of ranking systems out there because everyone wants to cash in on the campus craziness market. USNWR is the only one that counts |
