What is wrong with you? You are sick. It was a golden retriever puppy for gods sake. You are going to defend someone shooting it. Get a life.

No, dog owners who have zero regard for other people are the sick ones. If you're shooting a dog lunging at you, especially off leash (or on some moronic retractable clothesline) then you do what you do to protect yourself. If you can't be responsible for your animal at all times, then don't get one. I say this as someone who's never owned or shot a gun in my life. I'm so tired of irresponsible dog owners, and I'm sure there's much more to this story.

( op) Do you not believe the police? The police are saying this was unprovoked. Please stop talking about other stories that have nothing to do with this case.

Macie, an 11-month-old Labrador mix, died last week along the trails of a wildlife sanctuary of Algonkian Regional Park.

Her owner, Susan Smith, was walking Macie off-leash when the dog ran and jumped near an older man and woman.

That man pulled out his 38-revolver and fired.

"She died in my arms. It is extremely painful. She was a good dog," Smith told WUSA9, sniffing back tears.

Off leash and attack a man and woman. How are the police saying this is unprovoked?

You're talking about 2 different incidences. The police said the on-leash Golden Retriever puppy in Phoenix was shot unprovoked. I have no idea about the off leash "Lab mix" (read: probably part Pit) in Virginia.

The puppy growled because he or she could tell the guy was a psycho. He probably would have done some other horrible thing if he hadn't shot the dog, and the dog knew it.

Was this the OP trying to keep this crazy thread alive?

This is op. And no I did not write the above. You do know that other people agree with me? There are lots of threads and you don't have to read this if you think it is too "crazy" The thread isn't but, the event certainly was!
