No, dog owners who have zero regard for other people are the sick ones. If you're shooting a dog lunging at you, especially off leash (or on some moronic retractable clothesline) then you do what you do to protect yourself. If you can't be responsible for your animal at all times, then don't get one. I say this as someone who's never owned or shot a gun in my life. I'm so tired of irresponsible dog owners, and I'm sure there's much more to this story.

You're talking about 2 different incidences. The police said the on-leash Golden Retriever puppy in Phoenix was shot unprovoked. I have no idea about the off leash "Lab mix" (read: probably part Pit) in Virginia. [/quote]
