Horrific story--woman's dog is killed while on leash in Phoenix by stranger!

Terrible but I am not willing to hang the shooter until the full story comes out.

That dude was out at 11 pm by himself with a gun approaching a woman walking alone. He was up to no good. I’d bet he didn’t initially see the dog, freaked when the dog growled, then freaked when he shot the dog. That dog maybe saved the woman from murder or rape with his growl.

I can not imagine the horror and shock. They haven't found him yet but, only offered 1,000 reward. Hope when they find him they lock him away for a very long time. My heart breaks for her!

This is op. Nobody has an opinion?

There are two sides to every story. I would like to hear what the shooter has to say. However, if what this woman says is true, the man should get some jail time.

Well, the shooter seemingly followed a woman alone at night walking a leashed puppy of a breed not known at all for aggression, got close enough to provoke a growl but not a lunge and then shot a dog in point blank range before apologizing (wtf) and running away. Shooter is not going to get his side of the story told and I don't think it's that more complicated than the dog thefts at gunpoint we are seeing here in DC.

100%. What was he doing out following a woman with a gun that close at night?

According to the story, the shooter didn't run away. He walked off. If the story is 100% true, it seems like he has some serious and dangerous mental issues.

Agreed.

Sure, if the story happened exactly as the woman says, then he should be punished.

But it's very likely to be a filtered, one-sided story, and the actuality is probably way different.

No, there aren't two sides to every story. You can't just shoot a dog in the streets. There is zero indication anyone's life was in danger necessitating the discharge of a weapon.

People with guns are always looking for a reason to use them.

And the poster who asks, "was it a pit mix", irrelevant. I don't care if it was a frothing at the mouth, mean huge rottweiler or something, you don't just shoot a dog because it growled at you. Unless the guy's blood is all over the sidewalk where this happened there is NO justification. Zero.

Did you even read the article? Police are saying the woman did nothing wrong! The dog was on a leash!! He was under control. All the man had to do was move the hell away. You are a sick person, pp

Anonymous wrote:Was it a pit bull mix with retriever? Curious, bc Goldens aren't really growlers or " defensive" that would cause a passerby to feel threatened and shoot the dog.

Another take is that perhaps there was bad history between the 2 people and as revenge/payback/one-up the other the guy shot the dog.

They were strangers and even if it had pit ( which it did not) that does not give you the right to kill a dog.

Maybe an overreaction but DH was attacked by a leached golden in my neighborhood. The owner said she was aware he was aggressive but he pulled away from the leash suddenly and took a big bite out of DH before she could pull him back. I really believe there is another side to this story.

Another gun nut with no impulse control. And I agree with others - what the hell was he doing so close to her in the first place?

(sarcasm) what??? An aggressive dog that is not a pit mix? Impossible, at least on DCUM....

I agree this story is really weird, but it strikes me that everyone is insisting that this was “unprovoked” but even the dog owner admits the dog “growled”. Dog owners often seem to minimize their dog’s behavior, so I would absolutely not be surprised if this was a lot more than a “growl”. Either way, dude obviously shouldn’t have shot the dog. Gun nuts who bring guns everywhere and then act like it wasn’t their fault a gun was involved are just idiots. Dangerous idiots.

Yep. They are just waiting for the day when they had to save themselves with their gun.
