I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Good Counsel. We have a rising 9th grade boy that has toured or is applying to all of these mentioned schools. As far as facilities, we like in order (not by our choice order)

Prep (not applying)
SJC (top 3 choice)
Good Counsel
Landon
Bullis
Sidwell (top 3 choice)
Potomac (not applying)
St Albans (not applying)
Maret (top 3 choice even though worst facilities although new athletic fields coming 2023 I think)

DS is a top ranked athlete that will likely play D1. We figure he can get fancy facilities in college.

Kind of weird seeing D1 athlete applying to St. John’s also applying to programs like Sidwell and Maret.

Not weird at all. These schools consistently send kids to D1 in sports and they have strong academics. Why not have best of both worlds.

I’d like to see a list of D1 athletes recruited from Maret and Sidwell.

Why do you care? If you have a kid that is D1 potential, you’d know the answer already. I’m not sure what you’re getting at with your line of questioning. Weird.

Why do you care that I care?
Your defensiveness belies the fact that neither of your schools do very well with athletics. Which is fine.

I don’t at all. I’m just not going to take time out of my day to satisfy your curiosity. If you care, do your own work.

No way! Have you seen where MS kids have to squish and sit on the floor for chapel every morning only for it to be turned into a packed cafeteria in the middle of the day and then athletics/club space after school? They don’t even have an auditorium or properly fine arts classrooms in the MS!

Where is this?

Huh. I thought the campus was lovely and extensive. To each his own, I guess.

I never said I want you to get me a list. Just that I’d like to see it. Of course, I’m now realizing there’s not much to see.

I might pay more attention to if they offer leveled teams by grade or by ability in MS, and the strength of the program and your child’s likelihood of making the teams they want in HS. This varies quite a bit from school to school.

Lovely… like realtors when they use the word charming.

Don't most great athletes really play for an elite club team? I would not make decision based on facilities if you want to play D1. Proximity to your house and possibly proximity to club training is most important. If you live in Rockville, don't go downtown to Gonzaga if you child needs to be at club training in Rockville every afternoon/evening. And vice versa for DC...why go out to Holton, if you can get to NCS quickly?

And don't many club teams forbid playing on your high school team, or at the very least make the high school team come second to everything else. I can't imagine the OP has a sports child if they care about a high school facilities.

How is saying I’d like to see it not the same as asking for a list? If you researched you’d see it.

Didn’t finish, third kid at ODU also got offers from Harvard, Rutgers, Yale, Georgetown, UPenn, Columbia, Dartmouth, Buffalo, Syracuse, Boston College, UMD) his junior year. This is without playing a year due to COVID.

So do you still question why any D1 athlete would go to Maret? 😂

Yes, 3 examples wow. Quince Orchard has more than that. Thanks.

That wasn’t the question. The question was why would anyone with D1 talent go to Maret. It was almost like PP (or you) didn’t believe her son can have D1 talent and go to Maret. I just named the three basketball seniors that graduated last year. They only had three. So between the only 3 seniors, they got about 25+ D1 offers for one or both of their sports. Not to mention Ivy League.
