Best Facilities

Landon is expansive but older. Same for Holton. Have swimming pools.

Sfs and gds are modern, urban and cramped. Same for visi and Gonzaga.

Cathedral schools are great, not super expansive but lots of space for urban, and every one needs their swimming pools.

STA swimming pool is not that nice. Holton has one of the best swim facilities in the area. I believe STA shares with NCS and Holton shares with Landon.

All true.

As someone who has to do a lot of errands in MoCo, DC and have toured Potomac twice several years ago the land, buildings, architecture and sports programs are very clear at those schools on the first sentence.

Just look at google maps too, I’d imagine at least the footprint is clear.

Where do the gds and sfs swim teams practice?

I would guess at Wilson.

Yup Wilson along with several other schools.

STA’s pool may not be that nice but it serves its purpose just fine. The rest of the newly upgraded STA facilities are incredible. NCS also has well designed hidden athletic facilities that are gorgeous.

Georgetown Prep looked pretty amazing too.

Of all the pools our team has had meets in, Prep's was by far the nicest. Holton's is nice too.

STA is gorgeous to be so old I was pleasantly surprised.

+2 I agree. STA and NCS are both gorgeous.

Didn't the poster say middle school??

Why doesn't the STA virtual tour on the website work? I've tried it in 3 different browsers and... nothing.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Good Counsel. We have a rising 9th grade boy that has toured or is applying to all of these mentioned schools. As far as facilities, we like in order (not by our choice order)

Prep (not applying)
SJC (top 3 choice)
Good Counsel
Landon
Bullis
Sidwell (top 3 choice)
Potomac (not applying)
St Albans (not applying)
Maret (top 3 choice even though worst facilities although new athletic fields coming 2023 I think)

DS is a top ranked athlete that will likely play D1. We figure he can get fancy facilities in college.

Kind of weird seeing D1 athlete applying to St. John’s also applying to programs like Sidwell and Maret.

Not weird at all. These schools consistently send kids to D1 in sports and they have strong academics. Why not have best of both worlds.

I’d like to see a list of D1 athletes recruited from Maret and Sidwell.

Why do you care? If you have a kid that is D1 potential, you’d know the answer already. I’m not sure what you’re getting at with your line of questioning. Weird.

Why do you care that I care?
Your defensiveness belies the fact that neither of your schools do very well with athletics. Which is fine.

I don’t at all. I’m just not going to take time out of my day to satisfy your curiosity. If you care, do your own work.

I never said I want you to get me a list. Just that I’d like to see it. Of course, I’m now realizing there’s not much to see.

The Maret 2021 3 grads that I know on bball team
Bball 5 ⭐️ DC Gatorade player of the year - @ Colorado (know him personally, he received over 2 dozen D1 offers including Michigan, Nebraska, Louisville, LSU and many more…picked CO for best fit)
Football - @ Georgetown (multiple offers) also has bball offers
Football - @ODU (offers from Princeton, . Also had bball offers

Didn’t finish, third kid at ODU also got offers from Harvard, Rutgers, Yale, Georgetown, UPenn, Columbia, Dartmouth, Buffalo, Syracuse, Boston College, UMD) his junior year. This is without playing a year due to COVID.

So do you still question why any D1 athlete would go to Maret? 😂

Yes, 3 examples wow. Quince Orchard has more than that. Thanks.

That wasn’t the question. The question was why would anyone with D1 talent go to Maret. It was almost like PP (or you) didn’t believe her son can have D1 talent and go to Maret. I just named the three basketball seniors that graduated last year. They only had three. So between the only 3 seniors, they got about 25+ D1 offers for one or both of their sports. Not to mention Ivy League.

You didn't even mention that the consensus NCAA player of the year last year is a Maret alum.

As for Sidwell, they have 2 recent alums in the NBA and others playing D1. And on the girls side for basketball Sidwell is obviously a no-brainer at this point.

Website was down yesterday. Back up today.

Maret is old and needs updating.
