She's not a puppet just because you are mad about Langley not having apartments in the boundary. Many of her constituents were against the TJ admissions changes and that didn't stop her. |
|
Why shouldn’t Langley have apartments in its boundary? Isn’t that what FCPS staff had planned?
Anyway, the people she sucks up to the most are the ones behind the groups trying to recall her. Can’t see her getting another term. |
I agree - although on the boundary she protected her core supporters in Great Falls, the actual impact of the boundary will do nothing to alleviate the 'overcrowding' at McLean, so she also let-down the McLean parents. Her support of the TJ admissions-changes did not make her or anyone on the board more popular. She is a flake and a lightweight with no successes during her tenure. Im not sure we could do all that much worse than her in terms of overall results. |
Could not agree more. Didn't expect to see the recall succeed but wish she'd step aside and let someone else with a backbone take her place. |
She's done - just a question of whether or not she's figured that out yet. |
I think she knows. The last time she participated in a PTSA meeting at our school it was carefully moderated so no one could address her directly. The anger and disappointment is real. |

The bloodlust of this subset of Dranesville folks who didn’t get their way is scary. I think she’s doing a fine job during really bad times. Not just the pandemic but the radicalization of some in the community.
She seems kind and like she totally does the work. I disagreed with her TJ vote and I think more should have been done to help the McLean overcrowding but I don’t always get what I want. And I watched how some in the McLean community came after her about the boundary and it was scary. |
| It seems likely she’ll be a one-termer, whether that’s what she wants or what voters in her district decide. The recall petition was never going to succeed, but the conflict of interest on the part of the CA who refused to present the case to the judge doesn’t help. |
Scary? Were people dressed in black hoodies and jeans spray painting her porch and hurling rocks from her landscaping through her windows? Does she have to attend school board meetings with armed security because people surrounded her car and beat on it with bats? Did she have men in cars sitting outside her house to intimidate her? Was she getting death threats on the phone? Were people contacting her children and threatening them? If the McLean community did anything more hostile than send some strongly worded emails and hold signs up outside of the Safeway I will be very surprised. |
| She does continue to get personally threatening emails and calls all the time. They are forwarded to Security but most are from anonymous sources afraid to use their real names. |
There is absolutely no excuse for that. However, please do not think that this is restricted to one part of the political spectrum. I suspect that Elizabeth Schultz was also on the receiving end of threats. |
You are correct. They claim to be "Nonpartisan group representing thousands of Fairfax County parents prioritizing children over politics in public education". In reality though, they are a group of Anti-Vax, Anti-Mask, Anti-Science, conspiracy theorists peddling pseudo science and outright false information. Other than getting enough signatures for Tholen, they have failed at every meaningful step in their recall effort. Oh, and I fully expect someone to respond that this was all part of their ingenious plan all along...
|
That’s quite the partisan spin. Such a shame you can’t court-martial everyone who has the temerity to disagree with Tholen or any other School Board member. |
court-martial? |
Suspect or know? I'm sure we would have heard all about it word for word if there were the same type of threats. |
