Should I report a co worker for Medicaid/ food-stamp fraud?

I volunteer with a young early 20s mother of 2. She has bragged at least 3-4 times to different people about cheating the system. These are her exact words! Apparently her boyfriend works as a nail technician and most of his income doesn't get reported. I am not sure if she tells the gov that they boyfriend is out of the picture. Anyway she is trying to have a third child and gets $800 per months from food stamps. She says her boyfriend brings home $2000 weekly in tips. She brags about buying $200 shoes and all kinds of crap. The girl is a paid childcare worker but only works 5 hours per week. I think she said this is the only income she reports to the government. I can't believe I am thinking about reporting her because she is nice to me. She's not very helpful in the nursery when we're working together though. Most of the time she sits in the rocking chair playing on her phone. How much trouble would she get into?

They are not married so it is based solely on her income so she should be getting benefits. She does not need to report the boyfriend. Its not relevant or how it works.

Really? Even if the boyfriend is the father and they live in the same household?

No, they will probably go after him for child support but it goes by marriage which is one reason people don't get married.

She’s lying to you. No nail tech on the planet makes 2,000 in tips. She has to lie and brag to make herself feel better. Let her love her life and focus on yourself. She sounds very low vibration. I would keep my distance.

OP here. I don't know. How can she afford a new SUV and $200 shoes? Her husband must make a decent income if she's a SAHM.

This part. Her issue may be pathological lying more than anything else- fraud may not even be at play here.

Well then why would she tell me several times that she cheats the system? I do recall her telling me that she claimed her doesn't live with her.

Credit affords you a lot of things in the interim, until it catches up with you.

And how is it her boyfriend in one post, but husband in another? Your facts aren’t even straight.

She may be bragging about benefits to save face, too. She might actually need them, but if she’s an immature 20, it sounds better to be working the system than to actually be needing it.

Medicaid eligibility isn’t based on what your boyfriend’s salary is, OP.

But seriously, you think her bf is a nail technician who makes $2K WEEKLY in tips? Lol

I have no idea. Listen, if you think she's committing fraud by all means report her. I'm just saying she has told at lease one whopper of a lie here; it's a strange situation.

I'm figuring he's not a "nail tech," or that there is a side business at the nail salon to get 2k a month in "tips." I would stay out of it,no way you want to get involved in whatever the dude is doing to make 2k a week. Unless you figure it out and can report anonymously to crimestoppers. Or, she is lying.

Way more plausible than a $2000/week nail tech

It’s a BOYFRIEND, she’s not cheating anything. And how do you have so much free time to worry about this exactly? Get a life.
