But OP said it was true! And the $2000 per week in tips for a male nail technician! You guys it’s SO TRUE.

Op here. I am reporting what my coworker told me. I don't know why I am somehow the bad person here. What am I supposed to think about someone who tells me she's cheating the system? She drives a new so she's obviously getting money somehow. She also works as a nanny under the table.

Well, first of all, you’re the bad person here because you’re looking for a way to take medical care away from two little kids, because of scanty and unreliable information.

Second, you’re kinda dumb for credulously accepting everything this co-worker tells you, as though you’re the IRS and everything she tells you regarding her finances is required to be accurate. That’s not how casual conversation works.

Third, if she IS involved with something shady (2k per week in tips? ...No) then you’re risking your personal safety by reporting her and her boyfriend. Not a wise decision.

Op here. I am dumb because I believe someone who admits to Medicaid and food stamp fraud? She told me that she lies about the fathers involvement. According to her the government thinks he can't be found.

None of what you’ve said checks out. It sounds false. Either you’re lying, or she is.

You're dumb because you believe a nail tech makes $2000 a week in tips.

Report her if you think she's actually committing fraud; it's not like the government won't investigate and figure out what's going on first before changing anything.

OMG this thread is insane. She admitted to cheating and people are still supporting her. Unbelievable.

Why don't you ask your pastor what to do? Since you know her through church and all.

Op here. I am considering this or maybe I will stop volunteering all together. This lady has bragged about cheating Medicaid and food stamps SO many times. It's so disgusting and she doesn't actually work while we're in the nursery. She needs a reality check.

This may come as a shock to you, OP, but a lot of people work and need benefits.

Maybe she's including her nanny income? If they have a new car they must have some sort of income. Qualifying for a car loan is not easy.

You're clearly unhappy with your life and I'm sorry, but you'd be better served spending more energy on that, whether or not you choose to report this woman. Your issue with this woman can easily be resolved with a phone call, why haven't you done it yet? Why stew and get yourself worked up?

Op is reporting potential fraud. There's nothing wrong with this. More people should do this. Lots of cheaters out there using our tax dollars.

So confront her. Problem solved.

Yes anyone in the household is supposed to be reported when you apply for SNAP. I know because I applied for SNAP.

If someone admitted to cheating the system then I would believe that. Why is that so hard to understand? Most likely this follow church childcare worker friend is cheating the system. I could not stand to be around someone like this.

But none of what OP has said makes any sense, in regards to what this woman’s income/situation could realistically be like. That’s what people are questioning. Try reading the thread beyond your initial reaction of ZOMG MEDICAID FRAUD.

DP - the point is the Cheat doesn't need benefits. I guess you missed that part.

That won't solve anything. How exactly would you confront someone who admits to cheating the government? DO NOT do this op. It will make a mess of things.
