Hope it’s not a crowded place like orlando

Near Tampa and Sarasota (so other side of the state). But people travel frequently along the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Orlando so it’s likely there too. I have friends who live in DC and are at Disney this week. As someone who grew up in FL I know there are lots of flights between FL and DC. It’s gotta show up here sooner or later.

I’m wondering though whether it will crop up somewhere like Loudoun/W Fairfax b/c it’s near Dulles and has a high international population or in the city first because of density and tourists.

If warm weather really does slow down the progression of the virus, maybe Florida is the place to be.

FWIW, I'm in Florida and no one seems to be panicking here. I have noticed that face masks appear to be sold out, at least in the couple of stores that I checked for them. I think that might be medical clinics/health care providers buying them up though because I don't really see or hear about prepping being done.

Most people have a certain amount of supplies stocked up because of hurricane season.

You mean, you wonder which places will start testing first, right?

Who has tests... Fairfax County? Or DC?

Surely the virus is already spreading in both places but which one has tests first?

It’s already here. It spreads like a cold— very easily. When they start testing and announcing local cases this week, please try to remember that the vast majority of them are mild.

It is scary, but nonstop tracking of the newest cases isn’t doing anyone’s anxiety any good. It’s everywhere already, and we are all still alive.

I'm not sure that misinformation will help anyone's anxiety either.

I am totally shocked.

Indonesia has actually reported a case. Two in fact. No further details, however.

Details not available, but this article, which thinly veils its skepticism about Indonesia's lack of cases, was posted just a couple of hours ago. At least four travelers found to have coronavirus when they returned to their home countries are known to have spent time in Indonesia.

Love tracking the spread pattern. Have no anxiety whatsoever; it is fascinating to follow how the network of contagion evolves.

If that causes you anxiety, that's on you. You can just skip the posts.

Nothing listed as "pending" on VA Health Dept site at the moment, but then a lot of these govt agencies don't seem to update on the weekends.

Several updates happened right after the stock market closed on Friday. Coincidence? I doubt it. Market is going to tank tomorrow anyway. It’s a lot worse in the US and more states than anyone would have expected when they announced the first case in Northern CA.

Perhaps surprisingly, pre-market trading is in positive territory. I think all the government briefings, state and federal, delivered a message that has been missing: The government is on this. That is what people have wanted to hear.

They're still letting visitors in the long-term care facility in Washington where there have been several cases. No way this will be contained.

Kim Frey drove all the way from Twisp to visit her mom at Life Care Center of Kirkland. She was able to see her this evening and says the mood inside is calm, people wearing masks.

In the pic, it looks like she is holding a regular surgical mask. That does not protect a healthy person. And I hope that photo was before going inside because you're supposed to dispose of it and wash your hands immediately after. I'm not buying into the hysteria, but let's also not be stupid. The same precautions should be taken if there was a regular flu outbreak in a care facility.
