Is there or isn’t there a crisis on the border?

It's like osmosis.

Exactly!

Again, the vast majority of government services are unavailable to undocumented people. You wouldn’t want to extend services to support our families because maybe some tiny % of those services would be abused?

So rather than risk having a tiny % of abuse you prefer to have nothing - zero benefits for any citizens. Sounds like spite to me.

re: refugees and asylees - But how are we coding those entering if they're escaping brutal conditions?

Refugees and asylees are eligible for all welfare benefits for the first seven years they reside in the U.S., after which their eligibility is greatly reduced.

Welfare Benefits for Non-Citizens

If so, 7 years is still a long time.

This is new to me, too.

The Cash and Medical Assistance (CMA) Program is part of the Division of Refugee Assistance. CMA reimburses states for 100 percent of services provided to refugees and other eligible persons, as well as associated administrative costs. Programs eligible for reimbursement include:

Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA)
Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA)
Unaccompanied Refugee Minors

SEVEN YEARS? Good grief. I had no idea they were eligible for federal benefits. And I bet millions of other people had no idea either, so thank you for posting, PP.

This explains why so many people are struggling financially. This is a LOT of money to give illegals.

I guess I'm wondering where the help from the international community is if we are signatories to an international treaty? This is obviously overwhelming our resources

The respectable parts of the international community think we are fools with our open borders and "catch and release" policy, while our Democrat Congress does NOTHING to fix the problem, except to BLOCK a wall to defend our borders.

Liar.

It’s you who are the liar, PP. look in the mirror.

Honestly, be truthful with yourself.

Chamber of commerce in cahoots with democrat urban elites created this mess. An unholy alliance of rich people to screw low skilled workers and import millions of cheap workers.

Dear Leader employs illegal workers at Trump properties and imports low-skilled temporary workers from abroad. I guess you'll blame that on Democrats too?

Asylum hoax and caravans is a liberal craft.'' Americans don't want these jobs' is a liberal craft. Trump put majority of chronically unemployed welfare sponges to work - there is no '' Americans don't want these jobs' after all. Tighten the screws on getting free tax payers money and people find a job - any job - real quick.

Word salad.

I had no problem understanding the PP, and I agree with them completely.

And I have no problem understanding you. You're a hypocrite who gives Trump a pass when he hires illegals for his own companies. Or hires unskilled foreigners on visas. Then again, logic was never a strong suit with Trumpkins.

The amusing part is if Trump and other Republicans hired any AAs who applied for these jobs when the illegals were gone, you'd be accusing him of bringing back slavery. And if he hired young white people, you'd accuse him of racism. So instead, we tune you out completely.

Democrats in office are seeing Trump's numbers climbing, and that he's drawing in the AA vote, because he believes in them and their climbing employment numbers is proving that. Legal immigrants love him because he's standing up for their rights as well.

How much is that compared to all of the money you morons just gave to the billionaires?

Legal immigrant here. I fully support the need to disclose immigration status when applying for benefits. I think the only exception should be food banks and school lunches (and public school in general).

No. I don’t know what bubble you live in, but he and his supporters are reviled by POC.

I haven't read this thread, but I did read this today:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/18/us/new-mexico-militia.html

We now have at least one armed militia detaining migrants at the border.

It's only a matter of time before that goes critical.

How fun - free housing at the expense of Americans!

Wow. They should not be allowed to get subsidized/free housing. I can't believe it took this long for them to put a stop to it.

There's a crisis in Mexico, according to AP.
https://www.apnews.com/e2c9b809291948158973a152d6ad741d
Frustration grows among migrants in Mexico as support fades

But this time, the help did not come. The outpouring of aid that once greeted Central American migrants as they trekked in caravans through southern Mexico has been drying up. Hungrier, advancing slowly or not at all, and hounded by unhelpful local officials, frustration is growing among the 5,000 to 8,000 migrants in the southern state of Chiapas.

. . .
Mexico is under pressure from the Trump administration to thwart them from reaching the U.S. border. In April, President Donald Trump threatened to close the U.S.-Mexico border before changing course and threatening tariffs on automobiles produced in Mexico if that country does not stop the flow of Central American migrants.

U.S. border facilities have been overwhelmed by the number of migrant families. U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced recent that 53,000 parents and children were apprehended at the border in March.

Oh you mean Mexicans dont want their towns overrun with people taking up resources that should be for their own citizens? Must be racists!

Im glad they're getting fed up too. Maybe now they will actually secure their southern border.
