I know it's silly but I've always been a big fan of hers. She seemed like a nice, normal person who just happened to be so pretty that she caught the eye of a prince. She also didn't seem that into the job, like she married him because she loves him not because she wants to be queen that badly.

This news that she didn't stand up for Meghan, that she didn't issue a correction of what really happened with Meghan at the dress fitting, that she is married to a racist who questions the skin color of his nephew, etc.

It's really disappointing. I feel like I can't be a fan anymore.

I noticed this. I now have a dislike for her because of it. She should have done more. Vocally

She wouldn't even have had to say anything or speak to the press. She could have just gone out to lunch with Meghan somewhere they'd be seen right after the news broke. It would have sent a message that the story was a nonissue.

Like the tennis game they went to together and Kate was very friendly to her?

I thought that was before the wedding incident.

I’m not crazy about the narrative that they wouldnt get security and therefore were unsafe. They weren’t going to be GIFTED free security paid for by the crown and taxpayers. Of course they could have paid for their own security just like every other non-royal celebrity or globally prominent person does. Being without security was not actually going to happen. And no, they do not need extra security due to the kid being 1/4 black. I mean even Taylor Swift gets death threats FFS.

I think this really gets at the crux of the issue: the BRF as an institution is full of absurd contradictions and Catch-22's.

Taylor Swift pays for her own security because she's worked, made a ton of money, and is famous BECAUSE of her work. Harry/Meghan were not allowed to work or have a career unless they formally left the institution. Meanwhile, they and their son have very real security needs. Which were further amplified when the UK media started playing up the racist tropes in their headlines.

Another catch-22: why is a great-grandkid cut out of security when they are a child....but then gets the security once Charles becomes king? That's absurd. That child needs protection. Period. What an insane and illogical set of circumstances.

Not so certain either is prohibited from working. Andrew's daughters work and are titled princesses.

On a separate note, not too keen on how H&M tried to capitalize on the royal connection via "SussexRoyal" of about a year ago.

Finally, look at how miserable Philip/Anne/etc are in their lives. They have to go to their mother for money because they are not allowed to work. That's exactly what Harry/Meghan are trying to avoid - a life where they have to constantly ask William for money and live on the taxpayer dole until they die. The entire institution is preposterously outdated. If folks don't want them to be beholden to the largess of the taxpayer, they need to be able to establish a career. Harry is coming upon age 40 and has only another 10-20 to have a legitimate career. He's actually running out of time, hence why they forced the issue and moved.

Toxic, racist media environment constantly attacking your wife and child. No ability to work or make money. No future prospects or ability to pursue ambitions. And, finally, no one seriously considering mental health concerns.

Would you stick around?

I don't think most Americans get British humour, particularly that of older generations where racist stereotypes were seen as harmless good fun even if said without malice.

Harry is the one who perceived it as offensive. Meghan only heard it second hand.

Or be related it nonchalantly and she took it and ran with it.

Harry essentially confirmed it. It was bad enough that he wouldn't even describe the conversation to Oprah.

Such a nice show of support. Imagine had Kate did this just once. Chosen to wear one of the outfits from Meghan's fashion collection supporting British charities.

The Royal Family deserves ever hit they're getting over this.

Nope, the wedding incident happened in 2018 (when Kate was a week postpartum). Tennis once once that summer and once the next summer.

I think what Harry is talking about is being able to do it in public - to go out on a normal street and bike ride with his son. Its clear as day those pictures of Charles were staged on palace grounds - whether that's Highgrove, Sandringham, or Balmoral we don't know. But having your father pick you up in between his trips to see his mistress and take you to a 30,000-acre estate for official photographs is not what Harry had in mind for father-son time.

I think you know perfectly well that Harry isn't going on bike rides with Archie on normal streets. They live in a heavily guarded, gated, private community. If you want to extend your imagination, it's not completely unlike a royal estate. Large, private and safe.

I also think it's not right to discount everything taking place within royal estates as "abnormal". Sandringham and Balmoral are their private playgrounds. Meghan and Harry aren't taking Archie to a public playground or a county rec center pool you know. They have their own.

The point (that you are trying your best to excuse and explain away) is that Harry has indeed been taken on bike rides by his parents.

DP. Have you ever been to that part of California. There is tons of biking/hiking that are not heavily trafficked. Wouldn’t really call it normal streets. I agree about the playground if I had a private playground right now I would greatly prefer that.

If toxic and racist media is a concern, the last place you’d go is settle down in a $15 million dollar Los Angeles mansion, right up the street from Oprah

The area is not Bethesda or Capitol Hill. It's a gated and enclosed community with security.

Again! Santa Barbara, where they live IS not near or a part of Los Angeles! Two different cities entirely 1.30 h APART!

Thunk ,, DC and,,,, Richmond apart.

Their kids only go to the most elite private schools which are not diverse in any sense of word - racially, economically, or religiously. They mostly interact on a day-to-day basis with servants or courtiers who are actual members of noble families themselves - I mean if you want your mind blown look up the Queen's Racing Manager's 'house' - Lord 'Porchie'. They watch TV but that's not experiencing life.

In conclusion I can totally see how William grew up to be a racist in the 21st Century.

Yep. It's William.

Do you think Megan asked Kate how she was, lol?

This is hearsay. Did Harry confirm that? Did he actually say that?

Harry confirmed this in the interview

BUT HEARSAY. I OBJECT.

I live in Santa Barbara (not in Montecito, but not far from it) and people have posted on my NextDoor that they have seen H&M and Archie out and about. I think it's safe to say that they have much closer to a normal life now than Harry did as a child.

This. And Kate is just sadly stuck in the middle and stick by her husband's side.
