This is the person who was revolted by the speculation. I haven't commented other than my last post, which several PPs have quoted and responded to. The further back and forth is not me. A person has been murdered. I believe that the way some are behaving is akin to dancing on a grave. I'm sorry for contributing to that. Since my responding creates further posts, this is my last post. I'm sorry for having been part of this thread at all.

I actually appreciate Anon 23:16 pointing something out...it may have turned out that the "victim" was in fact a suspect (and really, all she is at this point, let's respect our country enough to let the justice system do the real convicting), BUT, the vast majority of the time, when a woman's story of being raped isn't believed, that is unjust.

Like the Black woman who said she was sad that the accused murderer turned out to be Black, I, as a woman, am very disturbed that the perpetrator of this crime appears to be a woman, a woman who falsely made claims of sexual assault. It deeply saddens me. Makes it so much harder for real victims to come forward, to be believed, to win in court.

For those who have been saying all along that people are on this forum who aren't usually--you are right. I'm from California, love Lululemon, and I've been tracking this story on every site I could.

To the poster who wondered about getting jury, having served on a murder sodomy trial, I can guarantee with the slightest hint of knowledge of anything relating to a case, or similar, you will not serve.

There have been a lot of posts over the last few days that have made me want to respond--things that I've seen that I wanted to point out (suppositions made that have been presented as facts and then others have started to spread), and truly horrifying incorrect assumptions and statements that made me so mad, I wanted to shout a correction. But nothing actually brought me to post except the deep sadness I feel for not only this victim, but every victim who will have a harder time because someone lied about being sexually assaulted and now many people (though not all, I realize) rejoice that she apparently in on it and they were right. Regardless of who was right all along, I think to doubt an apparent victim's story so publicly and without the majority of the facts is a grotesque disservice to victims everywhere and extremely disrespectful.

I am a regular DCUM reader who has been thinking about this case all week in horror. I have found this thread VERY interesting and thought-provoking, regardless of (or maybe because of) the debates it has provoked. I hope the recent posts about who is a loser vs. an asshole can stop. Please don't ruin this thread. Leave it for people genuinely commenting on the case, whether you like their theories or not.

I don't think the recent posts have been DCUM's... Remember, lots of people googled this case and ended up on this site. I'm thinking a bunch of teenagers are on here arguing with each other. This thread just needs to end!!

PP is absolutely right. People on this site were asking for the person's NAME when she was in the hospital. At that point all that was released by the police was that she was a sexual assault victim. We now know that's not true, but we didn't then. What kind of people want a sexual assault victim's name bandied about on an anonymous forum? What purpose in the world could that serve?

Bottom line, this back-and-forth is dumb. Let's keep this in perspective, folks-- a young, vibrant woman is dead and another will spend the rest of her life in jail. Two families torn apart.
