Murder at Lululemon in Bethesda

Anonymous
I did read any of these 45 pages of posts, because I know how they will go...sadness, questions, arguing, and blame.

I'm just wondering why we don't get 45 pages of posts when a woman is killed in a store outside of NW? Or, when a child is shot in SE?

Yes, it happens in your fancy Bethesda stores too.

If you read the whole thread, you would know that there has been a lot of discussion as to why this crime struck a chord with so many DCUM readers.

That actually was mentioned earlier on, DCUM cribnotes reader.

Off topic, but I get SOOOO annoyed at the person who enters a thread, says they haven't read it, and then offer some patronizing advise to the people who contributed to the length of the thread. It's a long thread because we live/work/shop near Bethesda, and we don't live/work/shop in NE. NE is a different world to me. Like Kansas. Not that murder is right in Kansas. But I don't live there, I don't go there, I don't shop there. And frankly, I don't know ANYBODY who goes to Northeast. If you don't like it, go start a thread.

Wow, talk about patronizing!

Some of us on DCUM actually live there, you know. Amazing concept to those in Bethesda, I realize. I'll be sure to stay on my side of the forum so I don't breathe any of my NE DC cooties on you.

You are why people hate the suburbs. I have lived in DC for 20 years and I think I've been to Bethesda twice. I don't like to be that rural.

It is NOT patronizing. I live somewhere else. Why would I traipse over to NE or SE for that matter? I don't go places unless they have stores I need or services I need.

Send her back to Bethesda suburban moms.

Yes, why would you ever leave your neighborhood.

It struck a chord because many of us have shopped in that shop, walked those streets at night out of a good time, are familiar with the relentlessly cheery corporate script of the yoga shop "live in the moment and breeeaaathe". The dissonance between that and a savage rape/murder was compelling. That being said, a small blurb in the paper today said a woman was killed in a Burger Shop in Frederick - opening the shop. THAT is horrible. Again, you should feel safe, not vulnerable, when your only 'crime' is going to your service job. I think this Bethesda thing has resensitized me actually. I hope that they throw the full resources of the law to the Frederick murder. And will the residents of the neighborhood hold a vigil? Seems warranted

One of the woman's coworkers murdered her, according to the news: http://abcnews.go.com/US/maryland-woman-claimed-victim-charged-workers-death/story?id=13170297

And you're why people hate DC, regarding Bethesda as "rural" ... it's like the Northern VA-Tidewater arguing (*) over on Virginia forums.

(*) 757 = thugs, rednecks, and jarheads.

You are astoundingly ignorant. It's not worth my time to explain why since you won't get it anyway. (I bill by the hour.)

Signed,

A NE DC resident/biglaw attorney/mom/Volvo driver/fancy stroller owner/lululemon shopper

At this point, I find H ST in NE very attractive. The bars and restaurants there are pretty cool and very different from anything you can find elsewhere in this area. Eastern Market is in SE, also a great place to shop and spend a nice weekend day.
Your comments about those neighborhoods are very ignorant. I've never had better neighbors and a better community than here in NE. So please don't trash other peoples neighborhoods when you've never actually been there. NE is not the NE you know from the news 10 years ago.
