FCPS Skyview Boundary Scenario 1/2/3

Coates and McNair stay at Westfield so there's no need to backfill.

That would kind of be a dream scenario for the 4 schools you listed, but totally unfair to Coates and McNair.

That would create an island.

Ok, leave out Floris and add Navy. Crossfield, Navy, Fox Mill, Oak Hill.

Rename it Oak Hill HS

Oakton and Chantilly get relief.

Skyview is in Floris boundary. Oak Hill and Floris are closest to Skyview.

Are you evil, or just clueless?

Probably both.

How about keeping the MS pattern of Scenario 3 and the HS from Scenario 2?

That would be pretty good. Probably most acceptable option.

They should but now Navy Oakton kids are getting rezoned there because Franklin MS is suddenly getting an elementary school that hasn’t been there in years and has priority apparently when they could just stay at Carson. Proximity doesn’t matter to these folks (they’re willing to commute all the way out to Oakton) so explain to me why should they all get moved over to Franklin while Navy kids will be split to different middle schools?

Really. I agree that there is difficulty with avoiding a split feeder. If Crossfield stays at Carson, then Oak Hill will stay at Franklin. Oak Hill is pretty certain to go to Skyview.

Honestly, Oak Hill and Crossfield should be at Carson/Skyview. Put Fox Mill at Hughes when AAP centers are in every middle school.

I would set Skyview boundary. Adjust Westfield on the edges and leave it be for a year or two. Then, work on the middle schools, if needed.

Franklin has been a split feeder forever--at least thirty years--maybe more. It's not optimum, but it is only two years.

Really? They don't seem that annoying to me.

Really? The one mom going on and on about how Crossfield is the reason her kid is getting rezoned to Navy isn't annoying? She's completely ignoring the fact that Oak Hill is getting zoned out of Franklin, and without it, Franklin will be at 80-something percent capacity There's plenty of room for the 2-3 classes of Crossfield kids there. The reason Navy kids are getting rezoned to Rocky Run is because Rocky Run is the primary Chantilly feeder, not because of Crossfield. Anyway, we'll see where Crossfield ends up. Almost everyone I've talked to would prefer to stay at Carson.

Why do you assume its just one mom? Because that position disagrees with yours, and of course everyone else must agree with you?
Crossfield should be Carson--Skyview, based on the map and common sense.

She keeps saying the same thing over and over and for what it's worth, I am a Crossfield parent who agrees with you. I would like to be Carson-Skyview, but if we're not, then Franklin makes sense.

+1 all because they don’t want to be rezoned to Rocky Run and then go on to Oakton with hardly any peers? I see. So it’s ok for other schools except crossfield to be split at middle schools.

I assumed they were going to Chantilly from Rocky Run.

No. Scenario 2 has us going Navy to Rocky Run to Oakton. Makes no sense.

+2. It's this. Navy->Rocky Run -> Oakton makes no sense since as a PP pointed out Rocky Run is primarily (or all?) Chantilly feeder now, and Chantilly and Rocky Run are right near each other.

My mistake. I thought the Navy kids being zoned to Rocky Run were going to Chantilly.

Crossfield is 5.0 miles from Franklin and 4.9 miles from Carson. You're right that the extra 0.1 miles is such a hardship, though!

THIS IS NOT WHY YOU ARE GETTING PUSHED OUT OF FRANKLIN. GIVE IT A REST.

As NUMEROUS people have told you. Crossfield and Oak Hill cancel each other out. This has nothing to do with Navy.

Hughes is already a Center and there is no space for Fox Mill. Fox Mill should be at Skyview. There are Fox Mill kids within a mile of Skyview. We share a boundary with Floris and go to Oak Hill for AAP. Carson is right next door and we attend Carson. And most of us want to attend Skyview.

Let Crossfield stay at Oakton since that is where they want to be. And yes, I think that there are more Crossfield families that want to stay at Oakton then want to move to Skyview. The families that want to attend Skyview can pupil place for the specialized programs. They should be able to get permission to pick up a bus int he Fox Mill area or one of the other close by spots.

Hughes is not overcrowded. No need to lie.

Yes obviously you assumed wrong. Crossfield doesn’t care who they hurt in the process as long as they get to stick together at Franklin and go on to Oakton together. Crossfield needs to go back to Carson.
