Yeah, first person in us has died - Washington State

Was this person confirmed before death or after?

We don't know yet.

Washington State so far has reported only two cases, one a woman who had traveled from Daegu and the other the teenager who contracted as a result of community spread. I believe the woman was recuperating at home; not sure about the teenager.

BNO News says that Washington State will report at least two new cases and a death. The death could be among the newly identified cases.

^^Actually, re-reading the media advisory, it looks like the death was from the newly identified cases.

Which is scary because neither was old or immune-compromised.

If the death is from the newly identified cases, we know nothing about their situation because no information has been released about them.

Why does PP think the death was someone "young and healthy"?

NBC is reporting it's a 19 year old who died.

Too many cavalier about the entire thing. I’m not a panicker/prepper and I have a PhD in Immunology/microbiology...and I am concerned.

I'm willing to be concerned but I don't know what that means.

We wash hands for 20 seconds. My kid has asthma, I have an overnight surgery coming up in the next few weeks. If we're concerned, what should we do?

Limit potential exposure. -DP

I’m continually shocked at how many are so sloppy about hand washing.

With people hoarding hand sanitizer, it will only make the situation worse.

And going out in public when they are sick...

Plain old soap and warm water works better. Liquid soap is fine, but the “sanitizers” are questionable, depending on their alcohol content.

Yeah but that’s not how the masses see things.

Exactly. Sick people MUST stay home,
unless they’re going to see a doctor.

Basic common sense, people.

Any trip on Metro suggests sick people are going to work. And there’s always some angry male who coughs uncovered just to be a jerk.

Why do grown adults not have the simple ability to sneeze or cough into their elbow, covering the germs?

Some people, really.

Also agree with "if you are sick, stay home!" sentiment.

But, this is entirely unrealistic. How will they get paid being home for 2 weeks? That's why we need a president who can address ALL angles of the Coronavirus.

I work in a nursing home; there are a lot of Chinese residents and family members in and out. Today one was coughing badly. So inconsiderate - nobody should come to our facility sick, and I’m especially paranoid now.

^^ just to add - I wanted to ask them to put on a mask, but felt awkward.

Everyone should be required to wear a mask. Can you wear one??
