The Bible offends me |
Sorry. The fascists are working toward a world in which the only books in school are various translations of the Bible. |
Is it really that surprising to you that parents don’t want books with images of sex acts in their kids’ schools? Parents don’t want sexual content in schools. For decades that wouldn’t have even been up for discussion. You are creating all these imaginary issues when the basic fact is that parents want to stop the sexualization of children that is being pushed on them today. It’s hard enough when it’s done in the media and on the internet. It shouldn’t be coming from the adults in school. |
The Constitution offends me. |
Communist offend me. |
There have been books with sexual content in schools. See Judy Blume references. I read Judy Blume in elementary school through highschool. Only difference here is now graphic novels are popular so there are pictures, and everyone is up in arms. Chill. |
I’m glad to hear that you also want the Bible out of schools as you think depictions of “sex acts” don’t belong in school. |
They’re not even popular. They’re just there. As books have always been. I’ll point out again that not a single fascist can point to an elementary school with this one book they’re soooooo afraid of actually in it. It’s a convenient ruse for them to whine about “sExShUaLiZiNg Ow-Er ChIlDrEn” as if these same parents don’t just let their children loose on Netflix and the internet. The fascist GOP banning books has about as much to do with sexualizing children as immigration has to do with stopping immigrants with coming here: nothing at all. |
Words offend me. Let's stop using words. Without words there'd be no offenses! Who's with me?! |
This is a list of the books that Duval County, FL banned. Which of these have images of sex acts in them? The Berenstain Bears and the Big Question? The Double Life of Pocahontas? The Life of Rosa Parks? Malala: A Hero for All? Roberto Clemente: Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates? Do tell. https://pen.org/banned-books-florida/?fbclid=IwAR3MUhy2VxNRvfSOmPPLKf_yZfi1PliT-VX7RHxt7o7FTMO2jzAQKqxE8xM&mibextid=Zxz2cZ |
When pushed on their terrible fascist politics, the fascists scatter. |
What does "depiction" of sex encompass? It's ok if a book describes sex with words as long as there aren't pictures? Is any reference to sex out? None of the book banners seem able to make this distinction. As a woman, I sometimes am more turned on by words over photos. Seems unfair to ban one over the other. But yes if words are banned, the Bible is out. |
How about “The Gift of Ramadan” by Rabiah York Lumbard and Laura K. Horton? I bet that’s smutty as hell. Or “Barbed Wire Baseball: How One Man Brought Hope to the Japanese Internment Camps of WWII,” by Marissa Moss and Yuko Marissa Shimizu. That’s for sure pornography snuck in under the banner of community in difficult situations and baseball. Or wait - is it possible that all this book banning is just more regressive virtue signaling? Letting those dirty brown people know that they ought to know their place in the GOP world order? Because that list seems pretty heavy on minorities. Almost like it’s more about that than it is about sex. It’s weird how quiet the fascists are. |
Notice that the fascist PP hasn't come back to defend her crap. |
And she wont, at least not without a lot of namecalling and ad hominem attacks. Read that list of books pulled from elementary schools. It is the most benign list of multicultural books and books about acceptance. “Neither,” by the way, is an amazing children’s book that these mouth breathers have banned. I gather it’s supposed to be about LGBTQIA+ but it’s really about anyone who has felt like they don’t fit into the pre appropved categories. There’s no sex in it, and if anyone claims that there is, then that person is telling on themselves and their attraction to cartoons. |
