Here is what is happening here, and it is plain and simple.

Harry blames the RBF for his mother's death, and before that, he blames them for how it was handled. He blames his dad and his grandma for all of it.
And they are to blame!
He is out for revenge, and he is taking them down.
You know the same way most of the dcum cuts off their parents and families cause they are toxic? Stop being hypocrites here; BRF is toxic; if they were your family, you would cut them off.
Also, it seems that Harry is not a spineless twit, regardless of what he might sound like. He is out for blood and blood he is getting. Why should he and Meghan take it quietly and be a good sport about it? Think about it, they crucified his mother, and for what? For wanting to have a real marriage and not turning a blind eye? Watch the documentary on Disney+, in her own words. What was done to Diana is nothing short of criminal behavior.
I, for one, am proud of him.

Diana died because she got in a car with a drunk driver and chose not to wear a seatbelt.

If she had remained under royal protection, she would never have got in that car.

And if she never married Charles, she wouldn’t have been chased by paparazzi. Most people understand that, if you let yourself be driven by a drunk driver and choose not to wear a seatbelt, you could die. Sadly, that fact of life applies to everyone, even beautiful princesses.

If she never married Charles, she would not have developed the human capital to be sought after by a wealthy Egyptian drug addict.

It's well known (at least here in the UK), that Charles pushed Diana to go to therapy, that William and Harry went to therapy after their mother passed (they've both spoken publicly about this), that Kate went to therapy with her brother when he was very depressed. Meghan said that she told everyone and no one was willing to help. Harry then said he told no one, not even his family. She couldn't have called up her OBGYN to ask for a referral? A private doctor? Harry's therapist? It makes no sense to me.

This is a really good point!

Maybe they know how to support therapy but not immediate emergency suicide needs?
Maybe Harry and Meghan’s closest team members (whoever she emailed?) felt vulnerable to the info getting out?
Maybe because it came by email they didn’t think it was so urgent? I’m not sure what happened, but you do raise some good questions.

Come on, a pregnant woman is stating she is suicidal to multiple people and no one contacts her OB which would be the first level of support? It's just not credible.

If he was old enough to school they would have refused to pay for it.

This is bullshit. Archie is the great grandchild of the Monarch. No great grandchildren have princely titles. That is how it is. When they become grandchildren of the monarch - when Charles ascends to the throne - they will get security.

I am guessing everyone thought it was a theatric ploy. Not saying that's right, but I definitely think that was a big part of it.

She called herself incredibly, incredibly brave a million times in that interview for going to HR.

They called the Royal Family's bluff with their quick exit and they truly seemed in complete shock that they were actually cut off.

I still feel they could have eventually received separate security for him, and paid for.
In a year or two, or just before preschool or frequent play dates, make the case.

Megan pinned it on Harry - “Harry communicated to me that there were concerns about baby’s color”

This is hearsay. Did Harry confirm that? Did he actually say that?

Because they are in the direct line of succession, did none of y'all watch the Crown?

George is currently third in line.

I'm curious to see how they react/defend themselves. Really curious to see if staff loyal to one or the other will leak to the press in defense of their person. IOW, will we see some kind of jockeying between the two houses to not get pegged with the single most damaging revelation of the interview. (Meghan said revealing the identity would be very damaging, so I think that pretty much limits the possibilities to Charles or William, as no one would be surprised if Phillip said it.)

I’d say the Princess Royal. She saw through Meghan from the beginning as she did with Diana

Yes, and they're the only ones that do. The Letters Patent was changed when Kate was pregnant with George to ensure that the child would be able to inherit the throne no matter the sex as absolute primogeniture was still in effect. It was then decided that rather than just the firstborn of the firstborn of the Prince of Wales having a title, all of the children of the firstborn of the Prince of Wales should. This was decided in 2013, way before a wife was even on Harry's radar.

I’m not crazy about the narrative that they wouldnt get security and therefore were unsafe. They weren’t going to be GIFTED free security paid for by the crown and taxpayers. Of course they could have paid for their own security just like every other non-royal celebrity or globally prominent person does. Being without security was not actually going to happen. And no, they do not need extra security due to the kid being 1/4 black. I mean even Taylor Swift gets death threats FFS.

I think this really gets at the crux of the issue: the BRF as an institution is full of absurd contradictions and Catch-22's.

Taylor Swift pays for her own security because she's worked, made a ton of money, and is famous BECAUSE of her work. Harry/Meghan were not allowed to work or have a career unless they formally left the institution. Meanwhile, they and their son have very real security needs. Which were further amplified when the UK media started playing up the racist tropes in their headlines.

Another catch-22: why is a great-grandkid cut out of security when they are a child....but then gets the security once Charles becomes king? That's absurd. That child needs protection. Period. What an insane and illogical set of circumstances.

Finally, look at how miserable Philip/Anne/etc are in their lives. They have to go to their mother for money because they are not allowed to work. That's exactly what Harry/Meghan are trying to avoid - a life where they have to constantly ask William for money and live on the taxpayer dole until they die. The entire institution is preposterously outdated. If folks don't want them to be beholden to the largess of the taxpayer, they need to be able to establish a career. Harry is coming upon age 40 and has only another 10-20 to have a legitimate career. He's actually running out of time, hence why they forced the issue and moved.

Toxic, racist media environment constantly attacking your wife and child. No ability to work or make money. No future prospects or ability to pursue ambitions. And, finally, no one seriously considering mental health concerns.

Would you stick around?

I would have thought about that ahead of time and certainly not had a showy wedding and a carriage ride if I wanted no part of it all.

That wedding was for the benefit of the British economy. It raked in 1.4billion dollars for the Brits. Do you really think H&M had a choice. The answer is no. H&M had a private wedding, what they wanted for themselves before the pagentry wedding.

Anonymous wrote:Did anyone else here wonder whether the apparent concern about how dark the baby would be could actually have been a rather off-colour joke? I don't think most Americans get British humour, particularly that of older generations where racist stereotypes were seen as harmless good fun even if said without malice.

Humor, especially around color, is gone, banned from American society. There is no humor anymore.

Pro tip. It was never funny to some of us. We just were guilted/dismissed/threatened to keep our mouths shut

To be fair, all humor seems to be dead. Out of curiosity, what is funny to you? Do you laugh ever? Can you make fun of yourself? I’ve been called pasty white and told that I look ugly like a ghost, why is my face so pale? This coming from person of color. I laughed it off.

So many things are funny to me. And I'm pretty darn funny. Often told I'm the funniest person folks know. I've even been told that others I've discussed/depicted aren't as funny as I made them seem when discussing them. So, I'd say- a strong PhD in funny. And the other compliment I've been paid is 'I can take it as well as I dish it out.'
Congrats on the specific racial incidents to recount and laugh off (as there were so few). I've certainly lost count.

Do you really believe that pale, almost albino, individuals aren’t ostracized? Believe me, I would rather have MM’s complexion than mine. I am freakishly white and am reminded of it daily. It’s not attractive.

The fact that you think my being black and your being pale is analogous is telling.

I’m beyond pale, have been ridiculed by persons of all colors since childhood, was assaulted by a POC, still asked why my skin is so pale, described by a POC as the woman with the white face. What would you call this?

I'd call it equivocating and justifying your position.

And to that, I ask this again:

I mean, Harry said he was ashamed (or embarrassed, I don't remember the exact word) to tell his family. What kind of man wouldn't put his wife in the car (yes, they have private cars that they can drive whenever they want) and take her to an emergency room as soon as she told him?

Hasn't the news already confirmed that they did not have a private wedding 3 days prior?

WTF?

This is basically the definition of racism. Are you trying to be ironic? I know it’s an anonymous site but dam, you are racist.
