Why are the so-called Strict Constitutionalist conservatives the ones who are always passing unconstitutional laws? |
Because what the GOP claims to be - patriotic, honorable, the party of stability and common sense, constitutionalist - is what the Democratic Party actually is, while the GOP continues to devolve into poop throwing monkeys. The GOP has never respected the Constitution except as a means to get their authoritarian way. |
I would really like to hear from a conservative opinion.
Technically it seems one has grounds to sue Florida to remove Bibles from schools based on Florida's own policy. The Bible has some scandalous references/descriptions. |
No one? Anyone? |

I’ll offer a conservative opinion. These things are hard to legislate. Ideally they wouldn’t require legislation. I personally have no idea how some people are okay with books like “gender queer” with its images of sex acts being in public school libraries. But apparently they are. And it seems that parents have found the only way to keep them out is to go to their representatives and get laws passed. And these laws will overreach. Because there is a line between acceptable and unacceptable and it’s different for different families. I wish people who think their kids should read Gender Queer would just buy it for their kids and not defend its presence in school. I wish schools would err on the side of not having this material present when it is questionable. But that’s not how it works today. So we have laws instead of common sense and some of those laws go too far. |
Gender queer seems to be an easy call for republicans, what about Toni Morrison? Her books are being banned, but no one seems to want to articulate why |
That’s not a “conservative” opinion, that’s a regressive and fascistic as the rest of your dumb party, you just tart it up with more words. Just to use your dumb example, what do you think “gender queer” means, precisely? What kind of illicit books do you think were being read in schools? Look at those book shelves above. You think all those empty or covered shelves were populated by “gender queer” books? You guys are just seriously beyond stupid. A few years ago, around 2016/2017 when we started calling Republicans Nazis for their support of Trump, you all took great offense and noted what you perceived to be a lack of parallels with that noted fascist party. And here you are, calmly and articulately defending fascism. |
I looked at Gender Queer photos and it's not much different than Judy Blume books, illustrated. Ever read Forever by Judy Blume?
Conservatives need to chill, your snowflake children do have access to to the internet where they will certainly find much more. It's like constantly flipping out over something that isn't new - kids will see things and read things! Though I suppose the one way to ensure your child absolutely looks at this book is to make a big deal about banning it? Congrats! Now your highschooler will certainly hunt for it at Barnes & Noble. |
+ a million Well said. |
I don’t have an objection to Toni Morrison’s books. Good books will get caught up in bad legislation. It would have been better if reasonable compromises could be made. But some people will insist on making images of sex acts available to children in their schools. Parents will object. Poor legislation is the end result. |
