[/quote] I’ll offer a conservative opinion. These things are hard to legislate. Ideally they wouldn’t require legislation. I personally have no idea how some people are okay with books like “gender queer” with its images of sex acts being in public school libraries. But apparently they are. And it seems that parents have found the only way to keep them out is to go to their representatives and get laws passed. And these laws will overreach. Because there is a line between acceptable and unacceptable and it’s different for different families. I wish people who think their kids should read Gender Queer would just buy it for their kids and not defend its presence in school. I wish schools would err on the side of not having this material present when it is questionable. But that’s not how it works today. So we have laws instead of common sense and some of those laws go too far. [/quote]
