Wuhan virus (coronavirus) arrives in the USA

Adults who were exposed to those viruses as children may have seen that immunity wear off. (Or something like that.) The podcast is worth a listen.

What about all of us parents who have also been slammed with colds over the past couple of winters. Maybe that means we have a bit of protection too vs. a childless adult who doesn’t come in contact with kids often?

I’m just trying to grab onto some hope here ...

I strongly recommend everyone listen to The Daily’s podcast “the coronavirus goes global” It’s the best overview and explanation I’ve heard.

My family has the flu. We had our flu shots. HA, fever, body aches, cough. How are people to know what they have if the flu is still going around. It is going to be a mess of the Coronavirus starts spreading and people think they have the flu. It’s not like we go to the doctors and test for the flu.

scientists have found why new #coronavirus is so much more infectious - “Compared to (old) SARS’ way of entry, [the new] binding method is “100 to 1,000 times” as efficient”.

Many people do go in and get tested for the flu.

We don’t - because we don’t take Tamiflu anymore, but many people we know do get tested.

Israel becomes the first country to ask it’s citizens not to travel out of country. Will we see more countries doing this?

They don’t have a lot of cases.

I’m sure this is an attempt to keep the olympics on track. They need to try to shut it down like China or no Olympics

2 days ago, on CCTV, China told their people not to travel to the US, because of "discrimination". SMH

They also told its people that flu in the US is far worse. Well, in that case, I can't wait for them to evacuate all Chinese citizens out of the US.

I can say it, I am not racist, because I am Chinese (now US citizen), LOL

The Chinese government lies to their citizens. What a shocker, lol.

If they wind up with pneumonia like symptoms they are going to seek medical attention. The doctors can figure out how to treat it.

Compromised breathing is compromised breathing. You know when you are really sick.

OMG what if that happened here? I don't have a month of annual leave. Would we all just be taking LWOP? Would they be more lenient and let us telework at night or with small children at home?

Seriously, if school closed your work would close and no one would be keeping tabs on your pto. Everyone would be freaking out, but you probably wouldn’t get paid.

Unless it’s severe, I don’t go in either.

The worry is that it will return with a vengeance in the fall, before a vaccine is available. That’s what happened with the Spanish Flu of 1918. Started in spring, died down, came back in fall and winter on a widespread basis.
