Is there or isn’t there a crisis on the border?

Bernie is talking about reparations, Trump about the lowest in history black unemployment. The goals are different, actually. You are mostly right, though.

We actually need these people or else face a Japan problem.
we don't need these people - illiterate burden for our tax $ , not speaking English, and not interested in education for their kids. We can bring in as many creme of the crop ready to hit the ground running legal immigrants.

LOL! Steven Miller doesn't want that either.

Or you know, we could make it easier and provide incentives for our citizens to have larger families.

Like universal healthcare, maternity leave, subsidized childcare, secondary education, etc?

Yes, exactly like those programs. And you cannot have open borders or an ineffective way to deport people and have those programs.

Please point out which GOP official is advocating for any of those programs. LOLOLOL!

None. But neither are democrats advocating putting meaningful restrictions on immigrants so that we can have nice things.

You are mistaken if you think people in the middle of the country would not take that deal IF controls were in place to actually deport illegal immigrants. Remember Bernie was the biggest threat before he started talking amnesty. People like the idea of universal healthcare. they dont like the idea of non-citizens taking advantage of our system.

This doesn’t make any sense because undocumented people are not eligible for most government services. Certainly not Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, SNIP, ACA subsidies, Social Security, etc.

So you don’t want to extend benefits to citizens...out of spite?
Kids of the illegals are eligible for schools, ESOL, lunches, health care, food stamps, and subsidized housing. Illegals go the the US emergency rooms ALL the time. WE pay for all of it.

Trump told border agents to defy law and block migrants from entering US.

So about that rule of law thing?

Well since you don’t want to make their home a safe place to live then they should go to your house. You break it you buy it.

Unfortunately the laws are lenient and aclu is well funded, all those strict measures by trump and co will only inflate the bleeding heart pro illegal rhetoric and waste taxpayer money on lawsuits.
Only by changing the legislation and public discourse on ilegal immigration will do the trick. If a well known and respected figure started stating facts (how many people
Stay having a standing deportation order; how many don’t show up for the hearing; what benefits are available to those with pending asylum status and their kids, US citizens and not, etc) that may turn the needle.

Oh, just few peaceful able bodied military age runners in training for Olympics.
Right?

You are just using this site to amplify Trumpian disinformation about a complete nothingburger.

Border crisis? There is no crisis. Simply a number of refugees and good people trying to come into this country to improve their lives.

Be better

Thank you!

There are currently 100k people coming across per month. When will it hit crisis mode in your perspective? President Obama's DHS chief has said there is a crisis right now. The democratic congressman whose district borders 700+ miles of the border has said there is a crisis. Stop gaslighting. This is a crisis.

Exactly.

When are you going to acknowledge the dire humanitarian crisis that Trump and people like you and the PP are purposefully ignoring because it’s inconvenient?

The people coming to this country from the south are desperate. They are fleeing horrific violence and deep poverty. History will judge you.

1. How many are you housing?
2. Where exactly would you like to put the rest of them?
3. Do you actually want to maintain open borders for everyone in the world who is enduring violence and poverty?

Thank you.

Anyone??

Crickets.

These people aren’t just “anyone in the world” - they are our neighbors. Thier crises have become our crises because we are not meaningfully addressing the root issues that make Central America one of the most violent and impoverished in the world. No one is talking about helping everyone in the world; we are talking about helping people in Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, among other CA countries. Unless we do that, people will keep coming because they are desperate to survive.

Oh and by the way, most illegal immigrants come here through airports and overstay thier legally obtained visas. But don’t let facts about illegal immigrants interfere with your temper tantrum. No wall to the south will fix that and as long as people are desperate enough, they will find ways around walls and barriers, just like they do today.

We helped to create the mess that is Central America and yet aren’t willing to help fix it.

Wrong. We have sent billions of dollars in aid to Central America - year after year - to help alleviate those problems, yet there is nothing to show for it. That money could have been used here in the U.S. to fight the opioid epidemic, homelessness, etc. But instead, it's been flushed down the toilet. Central Americans will *always* want to come to the U.S. and no amount of aid will change that. I'm tired of giving away billions of dollars to countries that won't use it as intended, and I know many people who feel the same way. Enough is enough.

It has helped in Colombia.

“[Plan Colombia was a] wide-ranging U.S. cooperation with Colombia to assist that country in combating drugs, guerrilla violence, and related institutional and social problems. ”

“Plan Colombia was a successful demonstration of how the U.S. could achieve security aims with a limited investment of military force.”

Why have Central American countries repeatedly squandered U.S. aid then? Why don't they follow Colombia's model? Regardless, it's not our job to continue bailing them out.

Was aid given in a comprehensive manner as in Colombia? Obviously there is room for improvement.

If you want fewer refugees then fix the actual issue.

I think you need to educate yourself just a bit. Do you know how many billions of dollars have been given to Central American countries? And what do they have to show for it? The aid needs to be cut off. Enough.

Comprehensive aid like we did in Colombia?

Nope. Just throwing money at it doesn’t help.

We don’t think your made up crisis is real.

So then the NYT and WaPo (among others) are lying? Come out and say they're lying.

They are quoting people who say it’s a crisis. ??

Nope. Liberals revere the NYT and WaPo. They wouldn't print information that wasn't true, right? So what you are saying is that these sources are lying. Admit it.

The stupid here is amazing. You all have ruined this forum. It is impossible to have an actual discussion because of the stupidity.

I agree with you, but only because the exact opposite is true. Liberals such as yourself absolutely refuse to acknowledge issues that you wish would conveniently disappear. It's impossible to converse with you because your MO is to simply deny, deny, deny.

Where's the stupidity behind the question?

NYT and WP are two sources that are not considered "fake news" by the left, correct? These are credible sources with solid evidence included in each article, no?

So if these sources are providing evidence of a border crisis, why would liberals doubt the information?

Or is it a matter of "crisis level?" Perhaps the crisis is perceived to be at a level 1 or 2? like the Richter scale measure of an earthquake . . .

I am baffled, and I'm speaking as one who was a D for many years but who is now probably slightly left of center as an Ind.

+1
The question wasn't stupid at all - PP just can't bring him/herself to answer truthfully. No, the WaPo and NYT are not lying about the crisis at the border. They're reporting facts, which PP can't bear. So instead, PP has to accuse anyone who believes these facts of being "stupid". That's some major projecting going on there...
