A lot of us have shorter commutes and aren't spending 2-3 hours commuting daily.

Get into a routine and just do it. DH and I took an exercise course together 3x a week at 8pm before kids. We were super rushed to get there, but we loved it. It is so hard now with a baby.

Yeah dude your commute is killing you. I'm in biglaw and I have more free time than you.

Obvs your commute is too long.

Can you eat at your desk at a time other than your scheduled "lunch" and you your scheduled "lunch hour" to exercise? If you have qualms about getting sweaty you will just have to get over it.

Your schedule is similar to mine, except I get home earlier. (I'm out of the office between 5:30 and 6 pm.)

Trying to fit in exercise is one of the reasons why I metro to work. It forces me to walk a few blocks 4 times a day plus whatever extra walking I do during the work day (lunch, meetings, etc.) Just by taking the metro I walk a minimum of 30 minutes a day.

I work out on the weekends and 2 xs a week I get up at 5:30 am and work out. Those days are killer but it works out to 4 xs a week.

It takes an hour to get groceries or take out?

Are you not doing shopping and planning for at least a few meals?

What I wouldn't give to have an evening to myself at 8:30...

Wait, you have no kids?? Work out before you drive home. Meal plan.
Anonymous
Also don't eat dinner at 9-10pm. Do you toss and turn all night??
Anonymous
It takes you an hour to get food and another hour to eat it?

Your schedule looks very much like mine used to be. I decided to get a stand-up desk.

And get a standing desk.

I'm assuming you don't have children. I see a lot of give in your schedule below:

See my schedule below:

6:30 wake up

6:30-7:30 - shower, make coffee, get dressed, out the door This takes a full hour?

7:30 -8:30/9 - commute As others have said, this is too long. Once kids/daycare are in the picture it will be worse.

9:00am arrive at work

9:00 - 12:00pm sit at desk

12:00 - 1:00 pm - on a good day go for a walk to the food trucks. some days just sit at desk and eat lunch
This is the ideal time to work out; a 30 minute run a few days a week will do wonders.

1:00 pm - 6pm - sit at desk

6:30 - 7:30 commute (sit in a car)
Again, too long.

7:30 - 8:30 get groceries/dinner
This makes little to no sense. If you are picking up food a take out order is 15 minutes. If it is groceries, it isn't every day, maybe 2x per week.

8:30 arrive home

8:30 -9:00 get comfy Once again, the luxury of time is catching up with you. 30 minutes to change into yoga pants and check the mail? You aren't even walking a dog.

9:00 - 10:00 make dinner or eat take out
An hour if you got take out? This is silly.

10:00 - 11:00 pm watch netflix/read/shower
11:00-midnight- read/sleep.
