They were having a conversation about how to deal with the possibility of the baby being “too dark.” Anyone who tries to paint this as normal speculation about if baby will resemble mom or dad? have brown eyes or green? — is the definition of gaslighting. It’s also the definition of racism.

Why would you be concerned about something you have no power to change?

And remember, we only have one side's version of this conversation, and that side benefits from being a victim.

Well hello Donald.

I predict Kate will have some more kids to push him further down

And this...

Yes, thank you! I was wondering why I see no media fact checkers on this stuff today.

Media knows DCUM is on the case.

At your service . I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know what's been covered but I can do many more - the titles and the Letters Patent, Charles' plan to slim down the monarchy which he's been talking about since the 90s, how the taxpayers pay for security, the British media coming out in droves to say that Buckingham Palace has shut down many, many stories about M&H (some of them because they weren't true, some that were true), etc. etc.

It is cute how you found these photos but I think its entirely believable Harry was not intentionally lying. I remember nothing pre age 6/7 and he could very well have zero recollection of this and have never seen the picture.

it's a family that harbors a pedophile. Maybe Harry and his family are better off without them

This. The fact that the villains of this family and Meg and Harry not a disgusting pedo tells you everything you need to know.

Yes, Andrew is really what people should be talking about, odd that Meghan and Harry didn’t shine a light there.

They would then have to talk about her family

I know it's silly but I've always been a big fan of hers. She seemed like a nice, normal person who just happened to be so pretty that she caught the eye of a prince. She also didn't seem that into the job, like she married him because she loves him not because she wants to be queen that badly.

This news that she didn't stand up for Meghan, that she didn't issue a correction of what really happened with Meghan at the dress fitting, that she is married to a racist who questions the skin color of his nephew, etc.

It's really disappointing. I feel like I can't be a fan anymore.

If you read the press and commentary from the "other side", they say this:

Kate didn't trust Meghan from the beginning. She thought it was all too fast and Meghan seemed too thirsty. And similar to the treatment that she herself received in her day, she took the position of "wait and see if this person earns my trust". She wasn't going to be fast friends with anyone unless she has observed Meghan over a period of time and judged her to be deserving of her trust.

It is not for nothing that you never read any comments from "friends of Kate" - because she vets her friends very carefully.

Plus, Kate sees her role as supportive of William above all else.

Meghan confused that with discrimination and racism.

And I'll say that Kate's judgment turned out to be not completely off base.

I can see all that, but Harry always supported Kate, publicly and within the family. Once it was clear that Meghan was Harry's chosen partner, she could have done more for Harry's sake. No one is saying she needed to confess her secrets to Meghan, just that she could show a little warmth and support.

If it was loyalty to William that prevented her from doing so, that suggests the Cambridge's did benefit by keeping Meghan as the tabloid target.

The Sussexes will be yesterday’s old news until Meghan finds something new to whine about.

I think she came across badly when she said she had done no research on TRF, British history of TRF, or the British press. It came across as being disinterested about the whole thing and then complaining when it doesn't turn out to be just like "being a celebrity" in the U.S. Like, why wouldn't she watch the Princess Diana interviews, at least?

Meghan was known and it was documented she was obsessed with Di in her teens. That was all BS.

And, COME ON, who the hell thinks they will marry into the Royal family and be able to talk freely and hold interviews whenever they want and make $ of brands??

Also, prior to the engagement and at the time of the engagement she definitely was instructed of the privacy issues and what she was not allowed to do. A mere 18 months later she's fleeing.

She came off as a dumb American. A stupid tourist.

She said she thought they were nothing more than celebrities. Hell, that's all they are to most Americans. Who the heck curtsey in private to their grandmother. How awful.

Many people will focus on staging their backyard to look like an outdoor living room like the interview setting.

Geezus people. At the beginning of the interview Oprah clearly states this is not their house or hers, but a friends of both that loaned them the space because it looked good for an interview. Hilarious They are being bashed for something that’s not true and was made perfectly clear if you actually listened.

Anonymous wrote:Did anyone else find it odd, that in this interview, with PLENTY of heavy topics like racism, questions about the baby's skin color, not dealing with mental health issues appropriately, heavy discussion on the family vs. the firm, and so on and so on, Meghan said that Kate made her cry about the f-ing flower girl dresses????

I'm sorry, I like Meghan and I'm rooting for her, but that seemed TOTALLY PETTY. I don't know why she just didn't say, when O. asked, "That is an example of a totally false tabloid story. In short, the answer is NO, I never made Kate cry about the dresses."

Answering like she did, did not fit well with the rest of the interview. It seemed like there were petty feuds and it just gave more ammo to those rumors. I found it so strange that she threw Kate under the bus like that, only to make herself look petty.

I disagree I think its an important distinction. Saying 'it never happened' is somewhat vague and can be easily forgotten, saying 'this not only did not happen, but the reverse actually did happen and someone in the palace reversed the roles in the story and pushed it out months later' says much more clearly that the firm was looking to intentionally hurt her, a point that would not have been made by 'it never happened.'

She went out of her way to not paint Kate badly here.

And yet Kate looks like a total asshole for not correcting the story. (Deservedly so)

It’s actually a great example of how the royal family wanted to blame any bad behavior by anyone on Meghan.

Anonymous wrote:Did anyone else here wonder whether the apparent concern about how dark the baby would be could actually have been a rather off-colour joke? I don't think most Americans get British humour, particularly that of older generations where racist stereotypes were seen as harmless good fun even if said without malice.

Humor, especially around color, is gone, banned from American society. There is no humor anymore.

Pro tip. It was never funny to some of us. We just were guilted/dismissed/threatened to keep our mouths shut

To be fair, all humor seems to be dead. Out of curiosity, what is funny to you? Do you laugh ever? Can you make fun of yourself? I’ve been called pasty white and told that I look ugly like a ghost, why is my face so pale? This coming from person of color. I laughed it off.

So many things are funny to me. And I'm pretty darn funny. Often told I'm the funniest person folks know. I've even been told that others I've discussed/depicted aren't as funny as I made them seem when discussing them. So, I'd say- a strong PhD in funny. And the other compliment I've been paid is 'I can take it as well as I dish it out.'
Congrats on the specific racial incidents to recount and laugh off (as there were so few). I've certainly lost count.

Do you really believe that pale, almost albino, individuals aren’t ostracized? Believe me, I would rather have MM’s complexion than mine. I am freakishly white and am reminded of it daily. It’s not attractive.

The fact that you think my being black and your being pale is analogous is telling.

I’m beyond pale, have been ridiculed by persons of all colors since childhood, was assaulted by a POC, still asked why my skin is so pale, described by a POC as the woman with the white face. What would you call this?

incredible but not surprising tone deafness, is what i would call it

It's well known (at least here in the UK), that Charles pushed Diana to go to therapy, that William and Harry went to therapy after their mother passed (they've both spoken publicly about this), that Kate went to therapy with her brother when he was very depressed. Meghan said that she told everyone and no one was willing to help. Harry then said he told no one, not even his family. She couldn't have called up her OBGYN to ask for a referral? A private doctor? Harry's therapist? It makes no sense to me.

This is a really good point!

It will be the end when Philip of Greece dies. The Queen will abdicate to Charles or William and they can downsize as other European royalty has done. The Brits who valued the tradition are dying off and what is left cares more about the economy than monarchy. The Queen has seen this since her reign began and controlled it through incredible force of will. But for the phenomenal Queen and her prince, it would have been gone years ago. Harry and Philip would be a military man and an art dealer with grace and favour cottages in Cornwall.

This is a wack take. The Queen is not going to abdicate and even if she was, what would Philip's death have to do with it?

Now I am cynical enough to think the Philip is on his deathbed and this could be the week. Sure would pull attention away from this interview.

I can't take the credit, someone else posted them online. I just think it speaks to a larger issue - he had absolutely no problem with his life when he was stepping into the VIP entrance of Boujis every weekend, or getting naked in Vegas, or when his teachers fudged his grades for him, or when he had access to some of the finest educational institutions in the world. In fact, they had the best of both world for a while. Diana took them to theme parks and McDonalds and toy stores all the time. I'm sure that changed when she died but he sure took advantage of the privileges his position afforded him. I don't blame him - most of us would. But to come back at 36 to complain about it? Come on.

Yeah, you’ve been saying that for years... You didn’t succeed in silencing Diana decades ago and it’s not going to work with Meghan either.
