Girl Raped at Rockville HS

The problem of illegal immigration is not solely the fault of our schools. The New York Times editorial board puts this on employers, and our government, for not enforcing laws to hire legally. Many people on this board also need to take a long look at who they are hiring to watch their children, clean their homes, mow lawns, cater their events, home maintenance, etc... are you also contributing to the problem of keeping illegal immigrants here with cash payments and no questions asked? I'm just saying that we can't have it both ways: complaining about illegal immigration while underpaying immigrants to do jobs we don't want to do or don't want to pay a good wage for. This is happening up and down the employment chain, so to speak.

We are discussing one deplorable incident, which involves dumb policy by MCPS where it could be foreseen that a problem would arise. It did not have to happen and is a glaring example of the counties defend illegals above all reason. Why do you feel the need to deflect the conversation. Of course there are other rapes and even murder, so that means we should just say "oh well."

How could mcps have forseen this horrific incident would happen? Plenty of illegal immigrant children are respectful, try to follow the law, and go on to be quit successful. How do you tell which person is going to commit a crime?

Sorry but this argument does not resonate with me at all.

I'm as liberal as they come, but this is ridiculous.

My daughter is zoned for Barnsley so this is not some theoretical problem as far as I'm concerned. The FACT is that an 18 year old man raped a 14 year old girl in the bathroom AT our high school. If you don't think that deserves some action, then that's just nuts.

You are totally right. People must demand immediate safeguards from criminals in our schools.

Exactly, no solutions for all the other 200+ rapes per year in Montgomery county. Head in the sand about the fact that 1 in 10 girls are raped by their boyfriends (or somebody they know) in high school. We don't want to mess up our white boys' future.

1. What are our schools doing accepting unaccompanied minors from a foreign country??
2. Who is "accompanying" them while they are here? Has CPS paid these so-called supervisors a visit?
3. Why aren't they back home with their parents?
4. Doesn't it make these kids vulnerable to sex traffickers!? 5. Why are we being handed the bill for this craziness, which includes building new schools and paying for more teachers?

All EXCELLENT questions...

Which is as common as being struck by lighting. Your daughter is more likely to be battered or sexually assaulted by her boyfriend or somebody she knows.

Which rape in a Montgomery County high school has been ignored?? NONE.

Enough is Enough.

In my line of work, we would categorize these men as "military-aged males." Believe me, even if we want to help displaced, refugee CHILDREN, there is no good reason for 18-20 year old men from troubled countries and unknown backgrounds to be mingling with our teenage girls. Those guys are just going to bring trouble, one way or another.

Not the PP, but by definition, an ILLEGAL immigrant has already broken the law. And this was NOT a child. The attacker was an 18 year old MAN. Can you really not see how that would cause problems? Putting a grown man who speaks no English and comes from a troubled background in with 14 year old girls?

+1 ILLEGAL. We have no idea these men's background but you put them in school with 14 year-olds. A troubled student of legal status, you would have an idea if they committed felonies before -- we know nothing of these men that illegally entered the country with the last year but sure, come integrate with our children. Let's just cross our fingers that it works. Great Plan

First of all, many illegal immigrant children didn't break the law by coming here. Their parents did. I'm guessing the children had no choice.

Secondly, we have many "real" Americans who are 19/20 by the time they finish HS because they have been redshirted. If you want to have a rule that prohibits 20 years olds in HS, I'm all for that. But, it should apply to everyone, not just those with brown skin with no documents.

Thirdly, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that not all 18 yr old illegal immigrants have committed rape. Therefore, I don't think anyone could have predicted that this would happen.

Again, if you think having much older teens in HS with 14 year olds is a problem (and I do agree with this), then again, we should make it a blanket rule.

I think we should expand the scope of this outrage to those parents who redshirt their kids to the point that there are 20 year olds in HS. Wasn't there a case like this in one of the w schools a while ago?

I doubt you have a daughter in a MC High School.

You don't have a daughter in MC high school if you don't know the real threat is the guy that picks her up in a fancy car, drives wasted and consumes drugs with her.

Makes one wonder how much outrage it would generate if the suspects were two white boys from Flower Valley.

Wow.
such a strawman argument. Those are the best when you are delusional.

You are joking right!?!?!

This is the only high school student raped in all of the Montgomery County ... every?

There are rapes reported every week. Why don't you know this?

Incorrect. Many rapes have been ignored. Guess your head has been in the sand. Read up on Larry Joynes who is now a lifer for a MCPS rape that was finally exposed decades after the MCPS cover up. Covering up rape is what the unions do best.

I don't think you know what a strawman is, you used the word incorrectly here.

I'm the PP. I'm with you on expanding. A 20 year old should not be in a HS with 14 year old girls. Have an alternative program. Maybe partner with a community college.

However i still stand by my post. The kid was 18! 18. He was an adult. He broke the law by coming here. That is an important fact in this story, like it or not.

Did he come here when he was 18? If not, then he was not an adult when he came here.

But, I do agree, no 20 year old should be in HS with a 14 yr old. And I love how that PP makes a distinction between the "nice" 20 year old HS student with an illegal immigrant 20 year old. A 20 year old is a 20 yr old as far as age is concerned. And if you think an 18 year illegal immigrant is the only one raping a teen girl, you are deluded. Lots of "real" American 18 year olds rape girls, and I bet some even have taken place in schools.

I'm not advocating for open borders, but I still don't understand how mcps could have forseen that an 18 year old illegal immigrant would end up raping a girl given that many such 18 yr olds have never done so. If we make the assumption that having an 18 yr old freshman is not good, then that should be a blanket statement, regardless of document status. Plenty of teens from so-called "nice" families have done bad things, so an 18 yr old freshman from a "nice" family is no less a danger than an illegal immigrant 18 yr old freshman.

All you libs can sit back and keep arguing how MC and MD need to be a "sanctuary city" so illegals have a safe place to call home, but when shit like this happens, you can't then be "outraged".

It is one or the other.

If the police can't report a CRIMINAL who is in this country illegally, and that CRIMINAL knows it, what do you think that CRIMINAL will continue to do?

This kid was already tagged to be deported, but in his sanctuary city, he knows he isn't going anywhere fast. Why not rape some poor 14 year-old kid whose life has now been changed forever?
