With Love, Meghan on Netflix

Not sure I have ever seen anything like it especially for something so generally harmless, if inauthentic and cringey. If I were her I would be close to suicidal. I wonder if people would have the same reaction to her and Harry if they had not gone after the Royal Family and not played victim for a few years. It is astonishing really. Although I think a lot of the criticism is driven by an obsession with them from right, which takes the valid criticism to an extreme. Sort of like the situations with Blake Lively and Amber Heard.

Pippa Middleton was roundly mocked when she published her lifestyle book "Celebrate" over 10 years ago. There was even a parody twitter account with the handle "Pippatips" that tweeted blindingly obvious hosting advice. Pippa took it in stride and moved on. Meghan keeps coming back for more but she never changes her tune. That's the problem.

Oh. I had no idea about any of that. Maybe because she is British.

Yeah she was on GMA promoting her book, and there was talk of her hosting or co-hosting an American television show, but her book was panned and it was thought that she didn't want to further embarass her sister. When the parody twitter account authors tried to publish a book mocking Pippa, she finally hired lawyers and the whole thing went away.

And Mindy kind of looked shocked.

And Meghan droning on about her reasons… I don’t know something about it was just really offputting to me. Did the editors hate her? Why in the hell would they keep that in? It was an awkward moment and it made Meghan look preachy as hell.

MM makes it really hard to like her, even if you are trying. And my guess is that the editors didn't have much to work with, but also yes, a distinct possibility they hate her dislike her as well.

Hosting a show 101 is not making your guests look stupid. And correcting Mindy like that makes her look stupid.

She should’ve just let it go and if it really bothered her, told her editors hey, when she called me Meghan Markle cut that. Or better yet just let it go. I mean, does she realize most people know her as Meghan Markle?

It really is so odd to me that she corrected her guest over something so dumb. And you could totally tell Mindy was thinking…I’m just going along with it. Her expression was just like oh my God.

The way she cooked and held a knife showed how inexperienced she was in a kitchen. She also looked fairly inexperienced at beekeeping too, I thought.

Besides all that though, the whole show and script was incredibly boring and Meghan was not relatable as a host. I have secondhand embarrassment, tbh… 1/10

“Shows how inexperienced…”
“She also looked fairly inexperienced at beekeeping too, I thought.”

First, she says multiple, multiple times that she is not a chef. Someone tries to call her that, and she says, no, I just have learned a little, am “comfortable in the kitchen.”

Second, the whole format of her show is sharing stuff she knows, learning things she doesn’t know. Among her guests are people much less experienced with cooking, and a few professional chefs.

Including the beekeeping. She has a beekeeper. Why did she have to be experienced to show you? She was showing things she is in the process of learning.

I’ve criticized her enough on here, but some, including your, comments aren’t valid.

Not everyone dislikes her or her show. The vitriol is next level and probably a generational social media thing or just from people with insipid lives. To hear the Brits on YT -lady A something) trash her, is so shameful that it is comical. Why does anyone care this much about what she does and then assign motivations and intentions? How would you know? Forcus on your own lives and Don't Watch Her. Why do you feel she is fair game, because she asked for it? What if she were your daughter, close friend? Would you approve of this public lashing and jump right in?
I found the show very watchable, beautiful vistas and gardens, taking time to slow down and appreciate your friends & love ones while savoring simple food. So what if she put a bag of pretzels in another bag, it was done with a good heart. It was clear to me, that her guests felt good and her husband loves her and is proud of her. With so much horror happening right now in our backyard, this was lovely to see.
Frankly, you all suck.

I can't stand her personality, but I would watch a show about her fashion and makeup. I would love to see her do some of her makeup looks in the spirit of Get Ready With Me videos. I would possibly even buy fashion and beauty products if she did a line. Her lifestyle show bored me to death. I agree with PPs who say she needs to shift her focus to fashion. I have def bought items after I have seen her wear them. She has a knack for styling herself and that to me is more unique than her homemaking skills.

I don't mind the show. I like to find things I can have on in the background while I can get some menial tasks done on my computer. I like the aesthetics and scenery. While it's a little clunky it doesn't bother me too much. I do think it would be better as short segments for posting on FB or Instagram. I understand the privacy aspect of not using her house but it's definitely off putting. In the first episode her friend said something to the effect of, I can't wait to go back and relax at your house. And Meghan mentions her house several times. It makes it harder to relate to her.

I don't know why you think we should uplift someone who ridicules their friends and family on TV.

Never heard her ridicule her family. She called them out for bad behavior, like telling her to get on with it while she was suicidal and pregnant.

I really don’t care that she said curtsying is like going to Medieval Times. Do you?

It was a pretty rude thing to say about meeting your future 90 something year old grandmother-in-law. And Harry looked very uncomfortable bc it WAS uncomfortable. And the way sue addressed Mindy isn't how I would speak to my friend, in public or private. But that's fine if you act like that, just expect it to raise eyebrows.

It was not uncomfortable at all. She said the Queen was lovely but that curtsying was weird to her. If that makes you uncomfortable you need to toughen up and get a thicker skin.

I would absolutely be fine joking around with a friend. I’m sorry that you don’t seem to get along with other women so you don’t get female friendships as like an overarching concept. Maybe you should take a cue from Hillaria and go to a yoga class to make some friends there?

Did you even watch the show? Meghan said she met Mindy when she came on her podcast and that they were "email pen pals." She barely knows her. Mindy took the comment in stride but it was a very weird scene. It actually looked edited, there may have been more dialogue. I can't imagine why the whole thing wasn't just cut.

Bad news for those of you who are triggered by Meghan's very existence: Netflix has confirmed a second season will be released this fall!

This is the entertainment section of a DC forum. Meghan doesn't care what is written here. She doesn't care that people thought her show was stupid and she doesn't need you defending her as if she were your close friend (Lol). You have a parasocial relationship with a woman you never met. Stop taking this so seriously.

This shit is so white. It’s bleached.

At one point in a later episode, she mentions her mom making gumbo and soul food, but that’s about it.

My sense is that she doesn’t particularly identify as African-American. Never really has.

To each their own.

+1. And this is one reason why her sudden claim of racism a few years ago rings hollow.

Agree. It sounds like they already had it filmed and are just dividing it up. So, not such a smash success they ordered a second season immediately but it did debut at #6 in the Top 10 in USA and it's getting talked about so clearly Netflix is not going to fire her the way trolls claim.

I do think it's very funny that people are this bothered by her. And, no, I don't think they're racist. They are just weird. Imagine getting this worked up over some effing balloons and fruit salad.

Anyone knew the details of her Netflix deal? I am assuming she got a guaranteed fee of some sort, so they need to make money back even if viewership is small and declines.

Because MM wanted the Sussex issue out there to make a point. She went on Drew Barrymore show now as Megan Sussex. She intentionally raised the issue with Mindy (making her uncomfortable) and then kept it in.

I think if Megan has an agenda, that’s fine, I don’t think a cooking and entertaining show is the forum to get it across. Not a good fit.

But apparently it’s been renewed for season two so maybe she’s onto something.
