With Love, Meghan on Netflix

She copied her new brand "As Ever" logo from the coat of arms of a Spanish town and she has already run into some trouble with her new brand due to other companies with the same name.

Gwyneth was always very successful though. Yes, people mocked her brand, but she surrounded herself with smart and competent people. She was also extremely respected as an actress. This to me is more like Blake Lively's Preserve.

This. Gwyneth had an Oscar already and the CEO of her company was the former CEO of Martha Stewart's brand.

She cuts garlic and minced it with a paring knife. She seemed afraid of bees and the popcorn. It’s just weird - she’s incredibly tentative as a cook. Maybe the edits will improve over the shows.

Anonymous wrote:Eh... here are the pros, IMO: She is BEAUTIFUL, and I love her outfits, fashion choices, etc. Montecito is equally beautiful, and I love the aesthetic of the show. I really like Meghan's fashion and wish she would do something in that vein, as I think it would be more authentic.

The cons: she comes off as fake, not just because it is not her house, but she isn't a natural in the kitchen, isn't doing anything exciting entertaining wise, the interactions with her guest are sometimes awkward (with Roy Choi) and sometimes just fake (Mindy Kaling and the last name) and sometimes cringe (the fractured dish making it more beautiful, just like fractured person meghan). She also has a "spot at the table" for everyone... aside from her nuclear family/husband's nuclear family, her former best friends that she ditched, or anyone else who is not famous.

The bigger issue with this type of show is that it is sort of tone deaf to the current economic and political situation going on. It is clear this is an attempt to make their financial situation grow (when they are already rich AF), rather than coming from what she loves to do; she isn't an Ina or a Martha or a Gwenyth, and that comes through.

I don't think most people will spend $$$ on overpriced jams as the federal workforce and adjacent lose their jobs, we abandon Ukraine and other allies, and the economy tanks.

Agree totally. When she was first dating Harry, her vibe was classy, sophisticated simple fashion. Low key personality (before we knew better). I even bought a tote she had. I get why being a royal was not going to work for her. Being second fiddle etc. But she could have come to the US and sold herself as a fashion and style icon. I may even had purchased some things, and I would watch this show.

BUT she wanted instant money, and lots of it. She didn't want to wait and work for it. And she did it by selling out his family, over and over. Unforgiveable. I am done with her.

I watched the first episode and part of the second. She's just not very good as a cook or hostess. A lot of the things she does are basic mom things every mom knows how to do, unless they are rich and really not handy at all. I feel like if she didn't want to share her real life, then she could have done a show like Padma Lakshmi's Taste the Nation. She could have even focused on LA, Toronto...Cities she knows really well since she lived in them, showcased local chefs and small restaurants. Less focus on her would have made her seem more humble.

She has zero talent. She simply married well. Massive mistake to cut off the hand that fed them both, with minimal work expected.

Comming from someone who really liked the tig I felt like she was holding back which was disappointing. I wanted more wine snarky Meghan kicking back with her friends. The recipes and tips are enough. There's nothing grandbreaking there which would've been a perfect opportunity to show more of her personality.

I do think she cooks but she definitely seems worried about her clothes the whole time which makes her look timid. Who cooks in a cream outfit?

Shes affected but I get the impression that’s she’s probably likeable once she lets her guard down and stops trying so hard. I wish she’d be more authentic.

It's not just about talent, I don't think she's very bright. Saying things like broken things are beautiful and can be sealed or whatever, how cringe. She is beautiful and I belive the best dressed woman on the global stage, but she made a big mistake striking it out on her own. She doesn't have what it takes (poor Harry absolutely doesn't).

GOOP launched in 2008. The Martha Stewart CEO came on board in 2014. The first 5 years of GOOP were very rocky (I know because I worked with them on some partnership stuff, and there was so much turnover and change of strategy). Gwyneth was an Oscar winner, but nobody had faith in her ability to run a lifestyle brand. And frankly, the whole lifestyle brand thing was pretty new in 2008. So kudos to her for persisting when no one believed in her and for becoming a leader in the lifestyle space. Is Meghan she going to persist like Gwyneth and figure it out, or give it up quickly like Blake Lively? It remains to be seen.

Why would I buy jam and housewares from Meghan Markle? I mean, I like her fine, but there’s zero connection in my mind between her and those things. I agree with PPs who suggested fashion or a return to acting. I WOULD possibly buy a MM top or accessories.

Did Gwyneth have accusations of bullying published against her in vanity fair?

Agree, she is very pretty and looks great in clothes. Developing her own clothing brand would have made far more sense. Look at how successful Jessica Simpson and Jaclyn Smith have been there. And there is definitely a niche for more elevated casual looks that cost far less than Goop recs. Hostessing and completely boring cooking? Waste of everyone's time.

She's fine. If you don't like her...don't watch. Stop the hate.

No hate, just disappointment.
