With Love, Meghan on Netflix

I get that most people dislike her because she is a lucky opportunist but that shouldn't be grounds for hatred.

I guess most of us would've jumped at a Netflix deal.

I know. Why does DCUM hate her so much? What has she done to you all? I think I know why…

And why is that 🙄

Sounds like one of Meghan's squaddies found her way to DCUM. They thrive on playing the race card because they lack education and critical thinking skills They usually troll the pages of the New York Post and Newsweek dishing dirt on Kate Middleton. During Middleton's illness they started the "Where's Kate" conspiracy theory that was joined by American celebrities like Stephen Colbert, Kim Kardashian, and Blake Lively. The British Home office sanctioned three Russian agencies who were found to be amplifying the squaddies trolling of Kate, using the discord to detract from the Ukraine war.
Meghan had a special screening of "With Love Meghan" in New York for a select group of her white squaddies to thank them for their support.

With all due respect, you sound insane. Russian Meghan fans are using discord to detract from the Ukrainian war? That's an insane take.

Also how curious that Meghan haters tend to be MAGA but suddenly you act concerned for Ukraine lol. If you're so concerned, go talk to Trump and Vance about it.

I don't hate Meghan and most of the negative commenters about the show don't seem like "haters." I am definitely NOT MAGA or racist just because I am not a fan. That explanation for anyone who dislikes her or her products/content gets tiresome.

I’ve always stayed clear of these H&M threads, now I know why.

I don't know why you think we should uplift someone who ridicules their friends and family on TV.

Never heard her ridicule her family. She called them out for bad behavior, like telling her to get on with it while she was suicidal and pregnant.

I really don’t care that she said curtsying is like going to Medieval Times. Do you?

It was a pretty rude thing to say about meeting your future 90 something year old grandmother-in-law. And Harry looked very uncomfortable bc it WAS uncomfortable. And the way sue addressed Mindy isn't how I would speak to my friend, in public or private. But that's fine if you act like that, just expect it to raise eyebrows.

It was not uncomfortable at all. She said the Queen was lovely but that curtsying was weird to her. If that makes you uncomfortable you need to toughen up and get a thicker skin.

I would absolutely be fine joking around with a friend. I’m sorry that you don’t seem to get along with other women so you don’t get female friendships as like an overarching. Maybe you should take a cue from Hillaria and go to a yoga class to make some friends there?

New poster. I have just been mindlessly reading this thread and laughing at some of the witty comments. But your post made me stop. You are taking things way too personally. Nobody who saw the clip, whether they like Meghan or not, thought she was joking. She absolutely was not. Now I think you need to go touch grass, PP. Meghan doesn’t know you or need you to insult a bunch of randoms on this thread in her honor.

DP. Two things:

1. Mindy Kaling thinks Meghan was joking
2. If this is the post that made you stop, you have a weird threshold for being shocked.

Mindy was on The View to promote one of her own projects so she answered blandly and tried to move on. PR 101. It was the hosts of The View who were trying to get her to engage on the topic. Mindy seemed disinterested.

+1 Mindy has an empire and she's a businesswoman/PR focused. She was willing to do the show but her #1 is her own brand and promoting HER new projects.

+2 Mindy knows better than to disparage Meghan publicly. And Meghan was not joking.

Also Mindy really doesn't give af. For her it's not that deep.

They seemed like actual friends/people who get along and have history, even though they are probably not super close.

She is best when she is talking about actual topics rather than talking about her feelings or various dime-story philosophies.

Watched the second episode with Mindy. I am not a fancy party person (all my kids’ parties have been run-around-the-backyard types) so I definitely fast-forwarded some of the twee parts like the balloon arch and gift bags. But I loved the rainbow fruit salad!! Yes yes it’s probably on TikTok but some of us don’t go on TikTok so it’s new for us but crazy cute and simple.

There were some frenemy-ish sounding moments like when Meghan kept referring to “my husband” instead of causally calling him “Harry” but whatever, everyone has those moments. Overall it was okay but Mindy was definitely the one bringing the energy and trying to make the conversation flow. I’m guessing she did it as a favor to Netflix.

Third episode with Roy Choi was great!! It helped that the food looked *amazing*. But also, even though they had never met each other before, they had that shared history of being LA kids and seemed to genuinely get along well. It’s too bad she doesn’t have more friends like that.

Also, I can’t believe people are comparing this to the Pam Anderson show?? I saw a couple of clips on YouTube and it looked boring as hell. She just watches her guest do things silently, and clearly has no experience in the kitchen.

Watched the next couple of episodes which were ok, but the food looked really really boring and bland. So much so they had to bring out the hot sauce! And what’s up with the flower sprinkles? They are just… flower petals right? Don’t they make things taste a little off?

I did like this quote from her when she makes a delicious-looking breakfast sandwich for her director - “the only thing better than eating food is making it for someone and watching them eat it with delight”

I think a lot of people are just sick of her playing the victim card. She left the UK 4 years ago and she is STILL talking about it, including multiple references in and about this show. Most of us would run the other way if we saw her heading in our direction at a cocktail party. If she would just shut up about it, most people would forget and give her content a fair shake. She is her own worst enemy.

With Love, Meghan was not believable in the slightest. The fact that Meghan did not even do this at her own property undermined the whole premise for the show, in my opinion.

The way she cooked and held a knife showed how inexperienced she was in a kitchen. She also looked fairly inexperienced at beekeeping too, I thought.

Besides all that though, the whole show and script was incredibly boring and Meghan was not relatable as a host. I have secondhand embarrassment, tbh… 1/10

People don’t dislike her because she’s an opportunist. They dislike her because she is disingenuous. It’s plain and simple. People see through her. The constancy whining and holier than thou preachiness doesn’t help either.

The reviews and online criticism this week have been absolutely brutal. Not sure I have ever seen anything like it especially for something so generally harmless, if inauthentic and cringey. If I were her I would be close to suicidal. I wonder if people would have the same reaction to her and Harry if they had not gone after the Royal Family and not played victim for a few years. It is astonishing really. Although I think a lot of the criticism is driven by an obsession with them from right, which takes the valid criticism to an extreme. Sort of like the situations with Blake Lively and Amber Heard.

She lived there for two years and her husband is from there. Of course she talks about it.

Not if you complain about it the whole time you were there. She got out - that's what she said she wanted and she is still not happy. That's why people can't deal with her.

Exactly. She wants everyone to move on but she herself hasn't moved on. She needs to let all that drama go if she wants to be known for something else (like her lifestyle show).

That's not what she is talking about and you know it. We are talking about her constantly reliving the drama (ie introducing a guest on her show by saying "he was here for the before, the during, and the after."). How does that help her rehab her image? It's like she is trying to stir up controversy.

Pippa Middleton was roundly mocked when she published her lifestyle book "Celebrate" over 10 years ago. There was even a parody twitter account with the handle "Pippatips" that tweeted blindingly obvious hosting advice. Pippa took it in stride and moved on. Meghan keeps coming back for more but she never changes her tune. That's the problem.

Oh. I had no idea about any of that. Maybe because she is British.
