NP. The bold is a good point: For many of us as parents of teens, "fraught" over time is far more realistic than "explosion" or "blow ups" all at once. I like seeing a family where there are teens and sometimes big issues but not necessarily explosions. |

Kevin’s rambling to the stranger annoyed me so much. Hello! This guy is there for a loved one also! And you’re spilling your guts, he doesn’t GAF and how rude!
Was just supposed to be Kevin‘s character, or was it just poor writing? Why can’t he have had that conversation with Nikki? |
If felt very greys anatomy monologue. |
Yes, Kevin at his worst. Also poor writing. |

This episode ends the idea the Cassidy is the wife right? She said her darkness was darker than his and he didn't really believe it. But now he has seen it. He can't add more to her life by getting involved but he can do the heroic thing by starting a company that employs vets. Do we think we have closure?
Did anyone else think that in the previous episode Miguel wasn't talking about a care team? I thought he was talking about himself. Like the Pearson's never think about Miguel and Beth (and Toby) even though they have been in the family and holding their partners together for years. I know Toby has his flaws and faults and can be a huge jerk, but the music teacher is also a huge jerk. And Kate's history with an abusive ex. It seems sad that she ends up with someone who can be so curt and hurtful and dismissive. And the family seems happy for her. I am not sure I get the appeal and I hope the writing isn't just "he learns to love" and then all is well. |
Yes, I think Cassidy is definitely out for the love interest. So Madison, Sophie, or someone new entirely. |
| What if the look into the future on last season's last episode was a dream. |

I think Zoe could still come back. She didn't want kids; Kevin has them now and Madison will do much of the heavy lifting. It's also a fairly amicable situation, especially as Madison did the dumping. (So Zoe wouldn't be dealing with an angry ex-wife as mother of Kevin's kids.)
As for the music teacher....What did Kate and Toby ever have in common other than being overweight? Toby was able to overcome that; Kate wasn't. So, now, the differing ways they look at the weight issue in their son is driving them apart. Other than kids, this couple has NOTHING in common. Toby, unlike Beth, also doesn't seem to have to come to terms with the Pearsons' family dynamic. At least with the music teacher, they both have a love of music and, to some extent, a loving of teaching children, in common. As someone who is a music teacher at a school for the blind, he is probably going to do a better job dealing with Jack's blindess than Toby is. And since we know that music ends up being Jack's "thing," it's also obvious that all 3 of them will share the love of music and he will probably be a better mentor in that regard than Toby--just because Toby has no other experience dealing with the blind. I wouldn't be surprised if the story line is that the teacher recognizes how truly gifted at music Jack is and helps him a lot. Kate may see that with the kids the teacher is not the rude acerbic person he is with adults. He will see what a great mom Kate is--he's probably dealt with a lot of parents of blind children who do a worse job. So, it may be that it is Jack who brings them together. |
This seems plausible. |
| The Kate/Toby divorce then falling for music teacher and getting married seems so fast! |
agree |
| It also seems like Kate would hermit after a traumatic issue with Jack. Like she would never leave Jack with anyone after he almost got hurt. She would never allow herself "fun" or "love" because she would feel undeserving of it because Jack got hurt and she didn't protect him. She has always had such self loathing and self deprecating ideas. Even years in the future her dating seems off |
I think the divorce and marriage are years apart. Lots of time jumps in this series. |
+1 I didn’t understand that exchange at all. Kevin was referring to the hard talk they had with Rebecca the night before and then Randall references teenagers? |
