I can't remember what the public transportation options were from Bethel Park to Oakland in the early 1990s. But isn't Beth an architecture student? From my CMU days, those kids barely went home for Christmas and were always back to campus and the studio earlier than anyone else.

I was actually thinking that we have gotten relatively less of Randall this season. There is a Big 3 trilogy every season, so of course he will have his stand-alone episode.

Those saying it's boring to have the episodes focused on individual Pearson siblings must not have been paying attention -- it's a hallmark of the series to have the trilogies so of course there will be one in the final season. It's three episodes out of, what 20-plus, each season? Not a big deal.

I do wish the showrunners hadn't made a thing of announcing such a firm ending to the run of the show. No, I don't want it to keep going on and on, and it's much better to end a show on your own terms instead of getting canceled. but they don't have much time left to wrap up, in an unrushed way, storylines they've dangled for a long time now. I wonder if we'll end up feeling as if they should have gone just a bit longer in order to have a really good conclusion. We'll see.

Speaking of one in particular, and maybe this was resolved earlier, but why did Jack keep Nicky a secret from his family, knowing full well he was alive?

Speaking of one in particular, and maybe this was resolved earlier, but why did Jack keep Nicky a secret from his family, knowing full well he was alive?

Because he couldn't forgive Nicky for what Jack thought was deliberate luring and murdering that child on the boat in Vietnam. He thought Nicky became irredeemably evil - and I'm speculating - that Nicky was turning out to be evil in the same way as their father.

What did we learn about Kevin? That’s he’s a good father? We already knew that.

Kate’s episode next week.? Maybe why she and Toby are divorced? Is it that relevant at this point? We know she remarries and Toby is alone.

What did we learn about Kevin? That’s he’s a good father? We already knew that.

Kate’s episode next week.? Maybe why she and Toby are divorced? Is it that relevant at this point? We know she remarries and Toby is alone.

I think it was laid out in that rambling speech he gave to the other guy waiting in the hospital waiting room. (which I thought sounded contrived and was lazy writing). He says he's there for Cassidy because that what good guys do, but it doesn't feel authentic to him. He's doing what he thinks he's supposed to do, rather than just being such a good guy who sincerely wants to be there. In his head, he doesn't feel like he's become the good man he wants to be because he still has to work at it rather than it coming naturally.

I think we're going to see him going back to CA and stepping up for Madison in a way that does feel true. He won't have that sense of being an imposter. He will be where he wants to be-- with her and their children-- and he won't question where he belongs and whether he's good enough anymore.

Yes we did, with the middle daughter and her difficult relationship with Beth. It wasn't an explosion, but it was fraught.

And then Deja sneaking off to Boston. Again, not an explosion, but a really big deal!
