Do you think all teachers think the same way? This is confusing to me. You praise a DC teacher for being willing to go into schools, yet many MCPS teachers were also willing to go into schools. There are still DC schools that are not even in person, yet they are all amazing? Teachers are a large group who don't all feel the same way. For you to condemn them all is insane to me. However, on the topic of summer school. Plenty of teachers did not work summer school in past years because they also wanted a break. Is that horrible? Or is it only horrible this year? Every person with a contract position is allowed to do whatever they would like when their contract is over. Teachers get to decide what is best for themselves and their families. You do not get to make that decision for them. |
Teachers are part of a union that purports to represent their interests and clearly showed where they stood on this issue. I saw NO teachers publicly advocate for school re-opening, ALL I saw was gaslighting and attacking parents WHO WERE AND CONTINUE TO FACE A MASSIVE CHILD CARE CRISIS. Teachers showed zero compassion for parents, ZERO. I saw this on both anonymous and non-anonymous forums. You don't want to work summer school? Fine. That's obviously your choice. Don't expect me to feel sorry for you though. |
Like all good playground arguments, parents had nothing but nasty things to say about teachers. In reality, it was a crappy situation that both parents and teachers felt angry, overwhelmed, and unsupported in. They then turned on each other because that was easy. I just hope everyone can take a step back and realize we all have the same basic goal, educating children to be productive citizens. Blame is easy but moving forward will be hard. |
Of course teachers want people to forget how anti-education they are. How can they justify demanding increased funding for schools when they spent the past year insisting in-person schooling is unimportant? |
| Also teachers consistently attacked all parents parroting the same language, NONE spoke up to say, "Hey, saying school is not child care at this time is kind of insensitive, misogynist and classist". Plenty of parents were on these boards and on Facebook defending teachers. |
Truth hurts sometimes. Teachers should admit they were wrong about the impact that DL had on students and that they dramatically overstated the covid risk in schools, especially for teachers who were even just partially vaccinated. Then we can all move forward together. |
russian trolls stirring up trouble again...

Kids were not out of school for over a year. Education was happening even if child care wasn't. |
+1 there can be no progress without accountability. |
No one wants you to feel sorry for us. I however feel sorry for you, as you are clearly an uninformed and ignorant lunatic. |
Oh hi, you're back. I guess all the money we spend every year renovating and staffing school buildings is just a huge waste right? Virtual is just fine, RIGHT? |
You're name-calling because you don't actually have a counter to anything I've said. |
Teachers aren’t a monolith. You cannot group all teachers together. (And teachers don’t owe you sh*t by the way) |
Yes, it is during a pandemic. We all had to stay at home and learn. What a tragedy. Some people actually enjoyed the time. |
Cringe. You do. You are a public employee. And yes- teachers (I am one) need to lie in the bed they made. DL was no problems- right? Good luck with our kids in the fall! And stop asking for more funding while you are at it. Establish a baseline of showing up to work, first |
