But the answer happens to be “a public” - and most likely 2 to 3 publics.

Anyone doing the McLean league in March? Except for SSSAS it looks like they have 4 of the top 5 Virginia teams playing. Should provide some good competition for those teams leading up to the season.

I would agree on PVI over Bullis and SJC. They have some talent, just not the depth. Toss up between the next two but this season I'd probably put Bullis over SJC.

In the WCAC, BI has been atop for some time but they lost a lot to graduation. PVI poised to make a run. Saw SJC lose to a "public" school - FSR - at StJ indoor. Take it for what its worth. FSR was led by a sister duo and SJC led by a couple of sophomore midfielders. They are improved but still need depth.

WCAC is still all about GC and BI. I'd put PVI third with their young talent and a solid coach. SJC and HC next. Holy Cross is just not good anymore unfortunately. BI lost a lot in its 2020 class, but I am sure coach is working on more transfers per usual.

St. James also offering full-field games in March

Anyone know of any teams that have registered for The St James league? Seems like playing outdoors at McLean would be more appealing given these leagues will roll right into the outdoor high school Spring seasons.

What makes playing outdoors at McLean more appealing? St. James will be full-field, climate controlled with no chance of weather interfering game times.

The HS season will be played outdoors is one reason to practice/play outside, but there's merit in knowing your games won't be cancelled due to weather.

Cost might be another factor, not sure which is more expensive.

Quality is another consideration. The McLean teams are at least listed on the site - http://www.mcleanboxlax.net/Bulletins.asp?MyTeam=NULL&division=28195&org=mcleanboxlax.net

St James has their March teams listed in tourney machine. St. Stephens, Stone Ridge, Visitation, Ireton, Good Counsel, SJC and more are signed up. So the STJ will likely settle this thread since the HS season will limit play amongst those teams.

^ + 100 especially since its full field

While missing some of the teams today, SSSAS B team beat our Ireton varsity today, and the SSSAS A team beat Visi by 4 or 5 today, after beating St Johns by almost 10.

I think everyone saw SSSAS depth today as their B team played their A team for the indoor championship today. Both teams over a group with BI, Visi, SJC varsities and the top Capital teams. Too bad SR had to pull out, as some of this could’ve been settled today.

Onward to indoor full field...

The depth of talent the Saints have this year is scary. If they play as a team they have the ability to be one of the best teams this area has ever seen. It's unfortunate that they likely won't get a lot of out of region match-ups to test themselves on a more national level. They only have one position that isn't truly top notch but they have so much everywhere else it may not matter.
