Any guesses where Pete and Chasten Buttigieg will live in the DMV?

They are already getting rich from their name recognition. Somehow Chasten even got a book deal...

If he wants a future political career at the state level (even as a stepping stone to his obviously higher ambitions), I'm guessing they will live in VA.

Privacy, yard space, historic home...perfect

Hell no. Someone said they want to have kids. That’s way too small.

Hahaha! You think a home with over 1600sf, 2 beds + an office, 2.5 baths, with parking and a private yard is too small and not compatible with a kid or two? ...especiallt for a family with NO kids yet?

Ha!

Hahahahaha!!!

I lived in a house not much bigger than that near there for many years with two kids--its plenty big enough for 1 kid.

I doubt his ambition is to be some state level politician in Virginia.

he’s written two books, maybe gotten some speaking fees since he dropped out of race.

Didn't Chasten getting a book deal too? I'm sure they can afford to rent on the Hill for a few years (ideally near a park for their dogs). They could also live near the dog park near the REI if they need something slightly cheaper. I think there is a metro near there.

+1000 people have really warped senses of space.

I love that house - seriously - but as someone who lives around the corner, privacy is not really a thing in Logan Circle unless you live in like a 5th floor penthouse. Way too much foot traffic inches from your front door.

Also that house is for sale - not rent. A 10% down payment would be more than Buttigueg’s forthcoming salary for a year. Doubt they can afford it. Getting a rental has less stringent requirements.

I work at DOT and a number of the appointees in my agency in this administration and the last one have lived either on the Hill, Navy Yard, or SW Waterfront. I’m guessing they’ll do the same.

Secretary of Transportation salary is $199k. If Chasten gets a job as a teacher that’ll put them at above $250k. Plus whatever money they’re bringing in from their books, consulting, speaking engagements etc. They’re fine financially.

They just scream Capitol Hill to me. Although I could also see Dupont or somewhere more NW- Glover or Cleveland Park? Definitely not anywhere in NoVA imo.

Neither of them strike me as crunchy.

yeah. gay and crunchy aren't necessarily synonymous lol. Pete was a McKinsey consultant, intelligence officer, officer in the Navy...

Yeah, I agree that they're not crunchy. And they are from the mid West. I think Navy Yard, Rosslyn/Clarendon or Tysons.
I just read about the dogs. That changes my votes to Vienna or even Springfield. If they want to have dogs and kids then they'll want a house with space. It would also make working for FCPS an easy choice as the following spouse.

Yeah, the new Secretary of Transportation is going to sit in the soul-killing traffic from Springfield. Gimme a break.

I love living in Springfield. But there is no way a Cabinet member is living here.

Definitely not Springfield but didn’t Colin Powell live in Vienna while he was serving?

Colin Powell lived in Burke twice during the time he was active duty.

Their house in Indiana is historic (and riverfront) so could see them wanting something similar, although I'm sure they'll have to sacrifice square footage. Real estate in South Bend is crazy cheap!

Nice. But a $2 million house in DC, give or take.

He will have a car and driver. And while I don't live in Springfield there are some nice parts that aren't all shopping center.
