My husband is fat and he does not care

Let it go. What else can you do? You aren’t his mother. Don’t stop having sex. Don’t shame him. Just be a happy couple.

BMI does not factor in muscle tone. For me, people look at me and are surprised by my weight. I am built like a linebacker, which means I do not look my weight.

For sure I have heard linebackers called fat. Measure your body fat and then you might have an argument 😉

Are you fat too?

Are you anorexic?

Don't wanna answer the question? Too busy eating Twinkies?

Something came to mind--research suggests that social factors can have quite an effect on healthy behaviors. I hear the men in my church (the ones that are not overweight very slightly overweight) comparing lipid levels and such during coffee after services. Does OP's husband have male friends? Are they heavy or not? Do they do any sports like casual basketball games, running, biking, other stuff?

Makes me wonder how the social lives of men affect their weight. Although mine grew up the skinny kid who ate endlessly and continued to eat endlessly as an adult without gaining an ounce.

I have always been a healthy weight but the last few months, not wanting to be hypercritical, started regularly working out. I thought maybe he would want to work out with me if he saw me working hard and we could make it a couples thing but no. Then he wonders why I’m never in the mood to have sex.

I love him and don’t ever see myself cheating or leaving him over this - I just had to vent my frustration somewhere. The double standard between men and women is not fair. I don’t think he’s depressed. Just hates exercise and loves ice cream. Oh well.

There’s no double standard—just lazy, selfish, unhealthy spouses of both sexes. This is my wife, exactly. She doesn’t seem to care at all that she is borderline obese. I’m pretty fit, and only 5 pounds heavier than when we married 15 years ago. She is about 30 pounds heavier, which is an awful lot since she is 5’5”.

There is a double standard. Do you have a six pack?

Sniffing your panties after you work out, puts me in the mood.

See that would make most women want to never work out again.

Which one of you carried a human life for 9 months and then squeezed it out through your genitals?

Huh?! Almost all linebackers are fat. They have a big gut hanging over their pants. Yes, they’re strong — but they’re pretty fat too. It’s not a good look. Next you’ll be saying you’re not “fat” you’re just built like a sumo wrestler!

NP here. Linebackers aren't fat, but I seriously doubt this guy is not fat at 6'2"/260. Unless he is an absolute beast at working out and has a huge amount of muscle, he almost certainly has 40 pounds of fat on him.

He'd be towards the upper end of an NFL linebacker in terms of weight. And he does not have the muscle of someone who's full-time job is to be in peak physical condition and has all of the resources of a billion-dollar organization at his disposal.

So yeah, he's probably fat.

NP. Um, they definitely are fat. Is this male magical thinking at play? Next we're going to hear Jonah Hill has a sexy dad bod or something?

6'2 225? If you don't want him, send him my way.
