Is it a marriage red flag when a couple only has one child? One daughter?

Welcome to the US and welcome to the 21st century.

Male heir carries the surname in the US as well. Daughters marry into other families, sons carry on the family legacy.

This isn't true.

Not in my family. My brother is gay. I think it would be hilarious if he changed his name to his husband's name but he never married his long-term boyfriend.

I and my sister did not ever consider changing our names to our husband's name. That is so 18th century.

My DH and I have been happily married for 18 years. We have a lovely 10 year old daughter. We also have spent over $100k trying to have a second child but IVF has not worked. We have lost very wanted pregnancies along the way.

This is tragic but it has made our marriage stronger. We are deeply grateful for our child and each other.

Stop thinking you know anything about anyone other than yourself. JUST STOP.

Now you're the wacko, PP. You could have adopted several children with that kind of money.

Adoption is not for everyone. How offensive of you shove your views down someone else’s throat.

Sorry to inform you that everyone who posts here shoves their views down the throat of every reader.

NP here.

You would not believe how both friends and strangers tried to shove their views that pregnancy is preferred over adoption down my throat when i let everyone know i was adopting my children. I told them i hope if they ever met my children they would keep their obnoxious views on how to create a family to themselves. Pregnancy is not for everyone.

In the US, you’re free to change your surname to whatever you want it to be. Plenty of women don’t take their husband’s last name. It’s not automatic for children to bear the father’s name.

OH MY.

I sure hope not. My son and DIL, that I love dearly, have one girl. I can't see them divorcing over that.

This thread needs to be deleted. MOO.

No it does not. Stop deleting threads you don't agree with. Are you a liberal?

Hello, I know your time machine just arrived from 1886, but in the year 2020 nobody gives a f*** about any of this.

I feel like you would find more people to support your thoughts in rural China. Thankfully, not here.

OP, are you hoping to steal the husband and that the lack of a son will help?
